What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Gloamfall is already a complete loop: 7 acts, 14 biomes, a secret eighth act, 6 heroes, 70 weapons and persistent gear. Early Access lets PC players shape the balance, the controls and the late-game difficulty while new content lands. The game also runs on mobile, but the PC version has its own keyboard-and-mouse interface, and we want PC players' feedback on it before 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 6 to 9 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More content and depth:
- secret mini-bosses that ambush you mid-descent;
- rift portals into strange biomes with gear you cannot find anywhere else;
- new events and Hearth Boons;
- Steam achievements and cloud saves;
- full controller support in every menu;
- balance passes on every hero and Gloom Tier.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable from start to finish:
- 7 acts plus the secret eighth;
- 15 lords and 14 mini-bosses, 100+ enemy types;
- 6 heroes with skill trees, 70 weapons, 20 legendary uniques and 12 class sets;
- the Emberhold hub with rescuable townsfolk, the Daily Rite and 10 Gloom Tiers;
- the full game in 6 languages.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may rise slightly at 1.0 as content is added. Early Access buyers keep everything, and there are no microtransactions.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussion forums and regular patch notes. Players' reports on balance, difficulty and controls drive the update priorities, and bug reports are answered directly by the developer.”

About This Game

The Saint has fallen. The Gloam is rising.

The kingdom of Vaelmoor is drowning in a creeping dusk. You are the Ashborn: a hero rekindled at the Last Hearth of Emberhold, the last town still burning. Descend with your hero's own weapon, dodge storms of bolts, take whatever the dungeon offers, and bring the loot home.

Gloamfall is a pixel-art roguelike dungeon crawler with twin-stick combat and action-RPG loot, built for keyboard and mouse.

Six heroes, six ways to fight

  • Ashen Knight, Wayward Ranger, Ember Witch, Gloomstalker and Ironclad Berserker, plus a sixth hero hidden in the dark
  • Each hero has a starting weapon, 3 active skills, a passive and a 3-branch skill tree with keystones that change how you play
  • Level up to 30 and respec your tree to try new builds

A dungeon that branches

  • 7 acts and 14 biomes, from the Sunken Crypts and the Plague Sewers to the Stormspire, the Abyssal Trench and the Ashen Necropolis
  • At the end of each act, choose which of two biomes you enter next
  • 15 lords with three phases each, plus 14 mini-bosses
  • 100+ enemy types, elites with 7 affixes and bullet-hell attack patterns
  • Break the guard of brutes, elites and mini-bosses to stun them and hit harder
  • Find three hidden Sigils to open the Gloam Gate and a secret eighth act

A new arsenal every run

  • 70 weapons in 15 families: swords, scythes, war gauntlets, axes, spears, bows, staves, tomes, throwing weapons and hexguns, black-powder firearms any hero can wield
  • Every weapon you find rolls its own rarity and affixes; Epic and Legendary ones can carry 1 of 14 unique traits
  • Found weapons last one run, so no two descents play alike. Improve the two in your hands at the dungeon's smiths
  • 8 damage elements and 11 status effects, 38 Hearth Boons, cursed Gloam Pacts and Crowns that twist a whole run

Armor you keep

  • 6 gear slots for armor and jewelry, 5 rarities and random affixes
  • 20 legendary uniques and 12 four-piece class sets whose bonuses reshape your build
  • Forge your gear up to +10 and turn boss Ember Shards into the legendary you want

Secrets in the walls

  • Cracked walls, hidden rooms and 13 kinds of event rooms
  • Rescue townsfolk in the dungeon: they move into Emberhold and open new services
  • Hidden pets, a hidden skin and a hidden hero for those who look closely

Always one more descent

  • 10 Gloom Tiers of difficulty per hero, each adding a new curse
  • Daily Rite: one attempt a day, the same seed for everyone
  • Fully playable offline, fully translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Turkish and Indonesian
  • No ads and no microtransactions: everything is earned by playing

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Gloamfall's in-game text (item, skill and enemy descriptions, lore and dialogue) and its translations into Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Indonesian were written with the help of generative AI tools under the developer's direction. The same goes for this store page's text, the trailer captions, the logo lettering and a few small sprites drawn in code. Characters, enemies, environments, music and sound effects come from credited asset packs. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.
