About This Game

One turn. Two steps.

White General is a single-player 3D strategy roguelike built around Two-Step Chess. With inertia active, each turn starts with a compulsory step in the direction you chose last time. You then choose the direction of the second step—and that choice sets up the first step of your next turn.

Plan from your shadow

An inertia shadow marks where your compulsory step will land. Use it to read the board, line up attacks, and choose what happens next. Continue in the same direction, double back, or turn to create a new route. Every choice shapes both this turn and the next.

Build a chain worth remembering

Buy and combine techniques to change your routes, trigger attacks, and extend an action beyond its basic two steps. Defeating two or more enemies in one action grants an extra turn. Look for combinations that turn a crowded board into an opportunity.

Make one move your personal best

Each action earns a performance score based on enemies defeated, techniques triggered, additional steps, and your combo. Your goal is to create a single outstanding action and beat your personal best. Reaching later waves gives you more opportunities to build your arsenal; turning those techniques into a high-scoring chain is up to you.

Break the pattern—at a cost

When inertia puts you in danger, right-click to spend one black stone and cancel it. Your next action returns to a direct, one-step move. This also ends your current combo, so choose when a fresh start is worth the cost.

A black general has become the White General. On a board inspired by Chinese chess and Go, face changing enemy formations, learn through an interactive tutorial, and discover how much can happen in just two steps.
