Why Early Access?

“Arid Frontiers is already a playable colony simulation with many connected systems. Early Access gives players a meaningful game to play now while real settlement stories and long-running colonies help reveal what needs clearer controls, better balance, more variety, or deeper consequences. Community feedback is especially valuable for work priorities, survival pacing, expeditions, combat, and long-term goals.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently estimate that Arid Frontiers will remain in Early Access for roughly 18 to 24 months after its Early Access launch. This is our best estimate, not a fixed release date; the timing may change as we improve the core systems, performance, balance, content, and save stability with player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand scenarios, landmarks, quests, settlement stories, expeditions, research, late-game challenges, and quality-of-life tools while continuing to improve balance, performance, accessibility, and presentation. These plans describe our direction and may evolve with community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Windows version is a playable single-player colony survival game without a demo time limit. Players can create settlers and choose a landing site; gather, haul, build, farm, draw and use water, fish, hunt, cook, craft, research, equip settlers, treat health conditions, manage duties and priorities, experience weather and threats, interact with animals, follow quests, and launch expeditions. Colonies can be saved and loaded through versioned save slots with rotating backups. As an Early Access game, it may still contain balance problems, rough edges, incomplete content, and bugs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to start Early Access at a lower price than the eventual full release. As we add substantial content and features, we expect to raise the price gradually during Early Access, with a higher price for version 1.0. We will announce any planned price change in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can share feedback and bug reports through the Steam Community Hub and the Voxel Pulse Games Discord. Development updates will summarize completed work, known priorities, and notable fixes. We will review feedback for recurring usability issues, balance problems, save or performance failures, and the features players most want to see developed further.”
