What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“HearthMoon is built around one idea: a village feels alive when its people live lives of their own, notice what you do and remember you. That idea runs through every system (trust, memory, quests, trade, crime, building and survival). Early Access lets us shape the villagers, the world and the main story together with players, instead of guessing in private.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect HearthMoon to stay in Early Access for about 6–12 months. The biggest milestones are the main story, villager quests and performance on a wide range of PCs. Player feedback may change that estimate; if it does, we will say so in our development updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include the complete main story: a mystery told through the villagers themselves, where the trust you earn decides what you learn and how it ends. We also plan quests that grow from what villagers need; deeper trust and memory; selling to merchants at prices shaped by your relationship; more dangerous and intelligent enemies; reworked Warrior battle arts and new spells; more life in the catacombs, the market, the tavern and the houses; new tricks for your dragon; and work on performance, presentation and accessibility. These are goals, not guarantees, and their scope and order may change with testing and feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is a playable single-player village and wilderness. You can talk to any villager, trade at a 12-stall market whose merchants keep their own hours, eat and play poker at the tavern, build on land you own, fish, farm, mine, cook and craft, and live with the consequences of crime. You can tame a baby dragon that takes your orders, grow as a Warrior, Ranger or Mage, and face the cemetery's undead, the catacombs and the Dragon Knight, and the werewolf on blood-moon nights. The main story and villager quests are not finished yet. Expect bugs, uneven performance and unfinished visuals. Saves may not carry over between major updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may rise at full release, as the main story and other content arrive. We will announce any price change before it takes effect.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Steam Discussions and regular development updates will be our main channels. The most useful reports include the steps to reproduce a bug, your PC specifications and performance, and what you were doing when it happened. We will share what we are working on and explain the changes we make. Player feedback will directly shape our priorities, though we cannot promise to build every suggestion.”

About This Game

Villagers who remember you

Emberwick's villagers speak in their own voices. They notice what you do, remember it, and trust you more or less because of it. Choose what to say, bring them gifts and take on their troubles, and they will open up. Each villager has their own work, family and way of speaking.

A village to come home to

Learn trades, make things and buy supplies from the market. Spend an evening at the Dragon's Head, sit down for poker or work on a home of your own. The people around you have jobs and daily routines, from the first loaves out of the oven to the lamps being lit at dusk.

The Blood Moon

Emberwick has reasons to fear the night. When the Blood Moon rises, a quiet evening can turn dangerous. Get ready, find shelter and learn what the village is willing to tell you as you earn people's trust.

Weapon arts and magic

Play a Warrior, Ranger or Mage. Warriors use weapon arts, Rangers mix bow and dagger arts with nature and spirit magic, and Mages learn fire, frost and tide, stone, and storm. Dodge, watch your resources and use abilities with clear shapes and bright effects. Better gear and a stronger character help you stay in the fight.

A baby dragon

There is a baby dragon to raise and grow alongside. Spend time with your companion and watch it develop. It is one more reason to return home after a day out in the wilds.

Early Access

I want people to play HearthMoon while I keep working on it. There are a lot of connected parts here: conversations, village life, crafting and combat. Playing it for yourselves and telling me where things fall short will help me decide what needs attention first.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

HearthMoon uses AI to synthesize villager voices on your PC from written lines. Live AI dialogue and voice input are being removed, and current test builds still contain them until that update ships. AI-assisted artwork and writing are also used in development, in the game's dialogue and in store-page marketing.

Name of AI model included with the game: Kokoro (local text-to-speech). Qwen3.5-4B and Whisper remain in current test builds and are being removed.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Fantasy combat with weapons and magic, killing, undead enemies and frightening nighttime encounters. A giant werewolf attacks the town, damaging buildings and causing fires. The tavern includes alcohol consumption and a simulated poker game.
