What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Television Dynasty Manager is meant to cover more than 70 years of television history, from black-and-white to streaming. The first decades are finished and playable, and more will follow with regular updates. With Early Access, you help decide where the journey goes: tell us what you enjoy, what's missing and what should come next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to bring Television Dynasty Manager out of Early Access after about one year. Until then, every major update adds more decades to the game, until television history reaches the present day. Quality comes before speed: if the community wants more depth, we'd rather take the time to get it right.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Television Dynasty Manager is planned to tell the story of television all the way to the present day. Plans include more decades with new shows, new technology from color TV to streaming, new gameplay systems, better graphics and many improvements based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Television Dynasty Manager is already fully playable, and the first decades of television history are complete. Over 4,700 movies, series and shows await you, along with your own productions, major live events and three rival networks, all in 3D.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase gradually as new decades and content are added, and possibly once more after the game leaves Early Access. Everyone who buys during Early Access receives all future updates at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Steam forum is our most important line to you. You can also send us feedback and bug reports directly from the game at any time. We read everything and are happy to bring good ideas and wishes into the game, because we want to keep building it together with the community.”

About This Game

Television Dynasty Manager is a business simulation in which you run your own television network as a TV manager, fully in 3D and from a first-person perspective.

America, 1950. For decades, families spent their evenings gathered around the radio. Now, for the first time, a picture flickers in the living room, and the country can't get enough. Anyone without a TV set crowds into the neighbors' living room or stops in front of the appliance store window. Sets are getting cheaper, hundreds of thousands more arrive every month, and soon all of America gathers in front of the television every night. Unknown faces become stars overnight. The next day, during lunch breaks and in schoolyards, there is only one topic: what was on TV last night.

In the middle of it all: your station. It's the smallest in the country, broadcasts only a few hours each evening and is far from being received everywhere. Your boss still expects results, and he expects them fast. Fight your way to the top with the right programming, beat three rival networks and turn the smallest station in America into a television dynasty.

The road to the top is long. And it starts tonight.

  • Build your TV schedule: Every night from Monday to Sunday, you decide what's on the air. Right from the start, more than 4,700 films, series and shows are at your disposal.
  • Sign advertising deals: Decide which time slots carry the commercials and earn money from every viewer to fund your rise.
  • Buy and sell programs: Secure the films, series and shows that bring in ratings, and get rid of the ones nobody wants to watch anymore.
  • Expand your network: Build studios for the films, series and shows you produce yourself, and a newsroom for your own news. Grow your broadcast area and your airtime to reach more and more people.
  • Produce your own hits: Combine genre, subgenre, writers, directors, actors and co-stars into thousands of possible productions. You decide who gets hired, and you decide what the next big hit will be.
  • Discover tomorrow's stars: Every month, young talents show up at your casting call. How you cast them decides how fast they grow: with every role they get better and better known, until the newcomer becomes a star viewers tune in for. But the years pass for them too. Some keep getting better, others lose their shine and eventually retire.
  • Put on big evening entertainment: Produce shows with a host, a sidekick, celebrity guests and singers. Bring your own series stars onto the stage as guests, and a host who wins people over week after week becomes a star in their own right.
  • Go on air with your own news: Every month, three real headlines of the era land on your desk, from the Korean War to the Moon landing. You decide which story your show runs. Strike a nerve with viewers and they stay tuned. Get it wrong and they switch over.
  • Write television history across the decades: Guide your network from the dawn of television through its golden age to the present day, decade by decade with every update. The big hits, live events and news stories arrive exactly when they did in history. Your newspaper tells you which shows shaped television and how new genres were born. And when the competition airs the next big hit, you have to respond.
  • Bid for the big live events: Compete with your rivals for the rights to the Olympics, the Super Bowl, boxing matches and the Moon landing.
  • Get to know your audience: Which genre works best at which hour, on which day and after which show? Air sitcoms every Monday for years and Monday becomes sitcom night. Detailed statistics show you what works, over months and years.
  • Become number one: Beat three rival networks, conquer the yearly ratings chart and sweep the Benny Awards.

Early Access: This is only the beginning

Television Dynasty Manager is an indie game born from decades of love for television: for films, series and shows, for unforgettable characters and for the actors you followed from role to role. And for the great TV moments that moved people far beyond America: when half the world wondered who shot the oil baron, when millions laughed at the same sitcom jokes, and when the Moon landing was broadcast live into living rooms. From this grew the dream of finally creating a TV management game with real depth, where you build a network over decades and take on the competition.

All features described above are already in the game. At launch, Television Dynasty Manager covers two decades full of shows, stars and events: the 1950s and 1960s. After that you can keep playing, and the later decades will be added step by step with future updates: the '70s, '80s and '90s, the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s, all the way to the present day.

With every decade, television changes, and your network has to keep up. Planned features include:
  • Color television, cable TV, pay TV and satellite channels
  • VCRs, VHS, DVD and home theater as new competition in the living room
  • HD television, the internet and, eventually, streaming
  • International TV trade fairs where you discover and buy shows and formats from abroad
  • A broker who lets you buy international shows and formats
  • Selling your own productions abroad
  • Syndication: sell your old hits to smaller stations

Television Dynasty Manager will continue to be developed for years, and your ideas matter. Tell us in the forum what you like, what's missing and what should be improved. We'd love to build a community that joins us on this journey, with ideas, tips and honest feedback.
