« Player feedback, suggestions, and bug reports will be needed to perfect the game, before a true 1.0 release. I would like to make the game available to those who want to playtest it before the game, its story content, and art assets are 100% complete. »

« Approximately 1 year. »

« The full version will have complete nations, events, story content, character and ship art assets, music, achievements, mod support, and localization. In addition the UI and game mechanics will likely be better after players have gotten the chance to critique and make suggestions. »

« Hill Sphere is in early alpha. Below is a list of what's in the game currently. Balance, text and presentation are unfinished, and saved games may not carry over between updates.

What you can play now:
-Seven tutorials that teach the game step by step: the basics, the economy, ships and colonization, government, terraforming, a war in space and an invasion of another world.
-A single player campaign as one of twelve nations (currently), in a sector of stars generated from a seed. You choose the seed, the number of stars and how densely they are packed.
-Real time with pause, a map of the sector and a view of each star system, with planets you can inspect tile by tile.
-An economy of production, prices, storage, trade networks and freight. You build industry, mines and farms on planet surfaces and set how much of each good your warehouses keep.
Research.
-Ships you design and build in your own shipyards. Survey other worlds, send colony ships and run trade routes between your worlds.
-Terraforming.
-Government: laws, parties and institutions.
-Diplomacy and war: declare war, fight in space, invade other worlds with ground armies and supply lines, and make peace.
-Computer nations that run their own economies, fleets and armies.
-Mods: they load from a folder in Documents, and you can set their order in game.
Saving and loading.

In the game but broken/incomplete:
-Skirmish mode: build two fleets and have them fight. (There is currently a bug where the camera spawns near the sun instead of the battlefield, and currently all ships are controlled by the AI, manual control is still to be done later.)
-Multiplayer. (Partially done, not operable yet.)

Not in the game yet:
-Steam Workshop.
-Languages other than English.
-Much of the in-game text is placeholder and is being rewritten.
-Balance is rough, and performance on low-end computers has not been tested. »

« I will not change the price when this leaves early access. »

« I would like the community to join the game's Discord server and get involved with the YouTube channel, and have plans for making a subreddit later when the community has sufficiently grown. I will be personally interacting with playtesters and members of the community. »

À propos de ce jeu

(Description will be improved with gifs later. Most images will be replaced as content changes and improves.)

In the year 2100, Humanity's nations fight for dominance over the stars surrounding Sol after a terrible accident destroyed the Earth. Lead your nation to victory in the sector through whatever means you want, whether military, economic, or diplomatic.

Explore new solar systems, settle planets, build settlements and sprawling industrial complexes, raise fleets and armies, and fight in myriads of fronts in space and on the ground across a procedurally generated sector.

The Sector

The sector is a sphere of up to 1000 procedurally generated stars, plus preset solar systems where nations start the game on their capitol planets.

It boasts all sorts of stars and stellar remnants, binary and trinary systems, with each solar system being unique.

Planets

The planets are generated by a simulation of solar system and planet formation, and have hex tile surfaces generated with an approximation of geological processes over time. The tiles on these planets contain useful surface deposits, different biomes and terrain, precipitation and other climate data. On habitable planets they have biomass and soil fertility for growing crops. Underneath the surface in the core and mantle, there are extra resources to mine.

Planets are diverse, and have different starting conditions as generated by geology. Some planets can be terraformed by extracting water and gasses from their mantles, allowing them to be made agriculturally productive and comfortable for human settlers.

Growth and Politics

Develop your planets and support your populations by building settlements to house people and mines and industrial parks to produce for your nation. Railways and seaports move goods between structures on the surface, spaceports and space elevators are needed to get materials and people on and off of a planet. Develop and specialize planets, and move goods across the galaxy with freighters and trade routes.

But to make this growth possible, you will need a stable and competent government. Appoint characters to positions, maintain their loyalty, and prevent internal conflict from ending your reign. Characters can automate decisions you would otherwise make in their jurisdiction, saving you time and attention, but beware that they can use that power to pursue their own agendas.

War

In this game, you must fight both in space and on planetary surfaces. To do this, you must build fleets, armies, and the ships to support them with food, supplies, and fuel.

Everything you build costs resources which must be delivered to the construction site, and military units need resources delivered directly to them to survive. Production and logistics are the pillars holding up all military campaigns.

The game's physics and engineering has a strong focus on realism, with gravity dictating ships' trajectories through space, plus fuel and waste heat being limiting factors.

Master physics and logistics, and you will master the galaxy!

Story Content

(Work in Progress) Follow your nation's situation trees, events, and storyline, and make choices along the way that change the fate of the entire sector. In addition, the game is data-driven and allows modders to make their own nations, alt-historical scenarios, events, characters, and story content, and publish them on the Steam Workshop.
