A marble maze puzzle game. Tilt a round stone board and roll a steel ball to the centre while water fills the corridors behind you. Most doors open only when water reaches them, so you have to let it in at the right moment and stay one corridor ahead.

About This Game

The water follows you.

Floodworks is a marble maze puzzle game. You tilt a round stone board and roll a steel ball through a circular labyrinth toward the centre. Water comes into the maze behind you and fills the corridors you leave.

Water opens the doors

The centre is locked. A golden wheel turns only after water floods it, and by then the water has usually flooded your way back as well. So you wait in a dead end, step on the drain plate at the right second and roll through the corridor while it is still dry.
  • Drain plates pull the water back for a short time.
  • One-way pits drop you into another room, and the water follows you there.
  • Braziers have to be lit before the water reaches them.
  • Pipes and grates let water in where you did not expect it.
  • Some doors stay open only while water stands at their wheel.
  • A second pocket of water, once released, swaps the open doors with the closed ones.

Expeditions

There are twelve expeditions with five boards each. Expeditions one to ten each bring in a new puzzle and mix it with the ones you already know. Eleven and twelve use long boards split into zones. Boards are generated from a seed, and each one is built around a solution that works. You choose one of three difficulty levels. The hint button shows your next step and nothing more.

Ten flooded halls

You play in a sluice chamber, a water clock hall, a flooded library, an old greenhouse, an observatory, an apothecary, a salt grotto, a ship's hold and two more halls. Each hall has four kinds of light: sunset, day, moonlight and fire.

Labyrinths

A separate mode with twelve waves of tide mazes and five lives per board. Each wave adds one new rule. Wall rings turn, wind pushes the ball, the tide surges, floor tiles crumble, lights go out, and on the last wave the water chases you.

In the game

  • 11 water puzzles plus long boards with several zones
  • 12 expeditions of 5 boards, 12 Labyrinth waves and free play
