What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ZERO VISIBILITY is made by a solo developer. I want to shape its difficulty, its scares and its feel together with the people who play it. Early Access also helps me find and fix bugs that one person alone would miss.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 【6 months to 1 year】. The game will leave Early Access (version 1.0) once the planned content is in and no major bugs remain.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will add more places to explore, such as a school, a shopping mall and the subway. Other plans include water as a resource, carrying traps out into town, and remade survivor models.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“ You can play from the start through to the ending. You can explore the suburbs and the abandoned hospital (inside: basement to 3rd floor). Base building, survivors, night raids, New Game+, achievements and 13 languages are all in.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price slightly at full release as we add more maps and features. If you buy during Early Access, you get the full version at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“ I read feedback and bug reports on the Steam Community discussions and 【Discord】. Every update comes with notes on what changed. Your save carries over between updates.”

About This Game

You can't see. So listen.
One morning the town vanished into fog, and its people stopped being people. From an abandoned factory, you and the survivors you gather keep each other alive, one day at a time. ZERO VISIBILITY is a third-person survival horror game about scavenging and building a base.
A Day in the Dead Town
1. Morning: Choose where to go: the suburbs, or the abandoned hospital.
2. Day: Scavenge supplies, ammo, medicine and weapons. Avoid the dead, or take them down quietly before they notice you.
3. Dusk: Reach the green beacon to head home. Miss curfew and you drop half of what you found.
4. Night: Upgrade your base, craft gear and assign survivors. From day 6 on, the dead come for your base after dark.
Sound Gets You Killed
• Running, using your flashlight and firing a gun all draw the dead to you.
• Crouch and sneak up from behind for a silent kill.
• Groans and footsteps come from where they really are. Headphones recommended.
Something Unseen Walks the Night
• At night, something invisible stalks the streets. You hear only footsteps and breathing.
• Shine your light on it to reveal it. But in the light, you are easier to spot too.
• Something that cannot be killed waits in the hospital basement.
Build Your Base, Protect Your People
• Build and upgrade a storehouse, workbench, clinic, generator, farm, rainwater tank and watchtower.
• Survivors you meet are doctors, engineers, mechanics, hunters, cooks and ex-soldiers. Put them where their skills matter.
• Your people eat every day. Let them starve and they lose trust and leave.
Weapons and Combat
• Melee weapons (knife, bat, axe, hammer) and firearms (pistol, revolver, shotgun, assault rifle and more). Craft Molotov cocktails too.
• Ammo is scarce, and gunfire calls the horde. When to shoot is your call.
• Where you hit matters. Shoot the legs and they crawl. Shoot the head for heavy damage.
What Happened Here?
• Collect five fragments of research data to reach the ending.
• A hand-drawn map fills in only where you have walked and what you have seen.
• Dying never deletes your save. Retry from that morning, or start over from day 1 and keep your blueprints.
• After the ending, start a new cycle. The dead grow tougher every time.
Also
• Three difficulty levels (Easy, Normal, Hard)
• Controller support (Xbox) as well as keyboard and mouse
• Text and UI in 13 languages

Crash Reports
• If the game crashes, it automatically sends a short error report to the developer so we can find and fix the problem.
• The report contains only technical details: the error message, where in the code it happened, which screen and map you were on, the in-game day and time, the game version, and your system/browser version.
• It does not include your name, Steam account, save data, or any other personal information.
• You can turn this off at any time in Settings > Sound & Display > "Send crash reports".

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some content in this game was created during development with the help of generative AI. No content is generated by AI while the game is running.
- 3D models: Many buildings, props and characters (zombies, survivors, etc.) were generated with Tripo AI under terms that permit commercial use, and adjusted for the game by the developer.
- Illustrations: The title screen art and some icons were generated with ChatGPT (OpenAI).
- Translation: AI was used to translate the game into 12 languages besides Japanese, with terminology kept consistent and reviewed.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This is a horror game about fighting zombies. Violence is constant throughout play, as you kill zombies with melee weapons and firearms.
Hits produce blood spray and pools of blood, and severed limbs and destroyed heads are shown. Zombie corpses remain where they fall. Zombies can be seen feeding on corpses, and they swarm and feed on the player character when you fall. The abandoned hospital contains a morgue with body bags and bloodstains.
There is no sexual content, no depiction of drug or alcohol abuse, and no self-harm.
Setting Options > Gore to "Reduced" hides blood, severed limbs and corpses (game difficulty is not affected).
