About This Game

Dario works in a warehouse. His supervisors grind him down every day, his house has gone quiet, and the only help he ever got was a prescription. Tonight his mind gives in.

UNDERSKIN is a psychological horror roguelike in pixel art. You go down into Dario's head floor by floor, fighting your way through the places and the people that broke him.

• The enemies are his coworkers and supervisors

• A voice talks to you for the whole run, and it is not on your side

• No coins: you pay with his pills, and every pill you spend is one he doesn't take
• 19 weapons, 171 fusions. Fuse any two, there's no going back

• Every run leaves a piece of him behind: the Fragments of Dario become playable
• Fully voiced in English and Italian

THE TEAM
It started as my idea, built alone for months, after work. Then my best friend joined, with the first ink sketches that brought my character to life. Then came the pixel artists who turn those drawings into pixels, and then the music. Now we're a team.

A few simple assets were made with AI. Everything else is drawn by hand. AI also works as my assistant: it helps draft some of the text and part of the English translation, which I then review and correct. The new characters, the rooms and the music are being made by real, paid artists.

It contains: pixel-art violence with blood against human-like figures; mature themes handled seriously, including workplace abuse, mental illness, grief, pregnancy loss and references to abortion; a hostile inner voice that demeans the protagonist; psychoactive medication used as a game mechanic; harsh language. No sexual content or nudity.
