About This Game

Doubloon is a dice roguelike deckbuilder. You owe the Pirate King. Each sea has a captain who drags you aboard. Pay the ransom within a limited number of hands, or walk the plank.

Stake and Multiplier Both Have to Grow

  • Stake × multiplier = payout. As your multiplier grows, your stake must keep pace. Investing in only one gets harder to sustain
  • Crew boost your multiplier, and most grow when you meet their conditions: straight specialists grow when you play straights, three-of-a-kind specialists on three of a kind. Hire the same crew member again to add a stack
  • Upgrade a combo's Codex to raise its base stake. Carving raises the scoring value of a chosen face across all your dice. Refacing changes a die's six-face layout
  • Every port asks the same question: stake or multiplier?

Roll, Keep, Reroll. Play What You Select

  • Build pairs, three of a kind, full houses, straights, four of a kind or five of a kind
  • Both Play and Reroll act on selected dice. After a hand, played dice reroll while the rest stay. Reroll replaces only the dice you select
  • Recruit Ballast to keep one played die's current face for your next hand
  • House Rules change how combos work: shorter straights, flipped faces, gaps in straights and nudging a die by one pip. A sixth die makes Six of a Kind and Full Straight possible

Every Move Is Shown Before You Board

  • The moment you enter a sea, you see its captain, their move and how to counter it. The fight is still two ports away, time enough to reshuffle your crew
  • Moves only apply during that round. Once you clear it, your crew's growth, Codex levels and dice upgrades remain. A captain's move never permanently erases your upgrades
  • No Runs, Pickpocket, Shackle, Blindfold, Double, Hook Left… each move comes with advice on how to counter it. Read it before you board

A Captain on Every Sea, Sitting Across From You

  • Harbor, Shoals, Archipelago, Open Sea, Storm Sea, Ice Sea, Mist Sea, then the Pirate King at the World's End
  • They talk back every hand: roll well and they sweat, fall just short and they grin
  • Beating the King is not the end. Descend through the undersea regions, then enter the Loop. A run ends only on the plank

What You Keep

  • Discover 49 crew members and 29 captains. Your collections record crew you've seen in port and captains you've defeated
  • 6 ships with different starts, 12 Codex upgrades, 10 House Rules, 16 Dock parts and 28 achievements
  • A record sheet for every run: farthest sea, bounty, best hand, best multiplier
  • Full controller support

Reaching the Pirate King is just the beginning. Take your crew, Codex upgrades and modified dice into the depths. At every port, decide where your next coins will go.
