Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“STAR REPLICA combines spacecraft piloting, resource mining, fabrication and upgrades, and autonomous fleet management through self-replication.
The core gameplay is already implemented, but we believe that hands-on feedback from players will help us improve the controls, the pace of exploration and progression, the usability of autonomous behavior, and combat balance.
Through Early Access, we want to refine these systems together with our players while building a universe with more places to explore and discoveries to make.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect STAR REPLICA to remain in Early Access for roughly 6–12 months after its Early Access launch. During this time, we plan to expand exploration content and crafting recipes, improve flight controls and combat, and refine autonomous fleet behavior. This is our current estimate and may change depending on development progress and player feedback. We will share progress and any changes to this estimate through Steam announcements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we aim to expand the existing mining, fabrication, self-replication, and exploration systems, and broaden the variety of places and events players can encounter.
The main areas we are currently considering include:
- Additional crafting recipes and spacecraft equipment.
- A wider variety of planets, moons, and astronomical phenomena.
- New mysteries and discoveries to encourage exploration.
- New enemies and expanded combat experiences.
- An optional assisted flight mode in which the direction of travel follows the spacecraft’s orientation more closely.
- Improvements to autonomous behavior, the interface, tutorials, performance, and stability.
We are considering the assisted flight mode as a more intuitive alternative alongside the existing inertia-based controls.
These are our current development goals. Their scope, implementation, and order of development may change based on testing and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version offers the following single-player features:
- Manual spacecraft piloting, flight affected by inertia and gravity, and planetary landings.
- Resource mining from asteroids and planetary deposits.
- Fabrication and upgrades for thrusters, solar arrays, mining units, and other modules, with equipment reflected in the spacecraft’s appearance.
- Unlockable AUTO control for autonomous flight, mining, and fabrication.
- Fleet expansion through self-replication, individual autonomy priorities, and the ability to transfer control between spacecraft.
- Warehouse deployment and resource storage.
- Exploration of star systems containing diverse planets, asteroid belts, comets, black holes, and other celestial bodies.
- Combat against hostile machines, including lock-on guided attacks and attack drones.
- Missions and exploration guided by mysterious signals.
The interface supports English and Japanese.
Players can experience the core progression loop: collect resources, upgrade their spacecraft, delegate work to a growing fleet, and explore farther into space. We are continuing to improve game balance, control guidance, autonomous behavior, performance, and stability.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer the game at a lower price during Early Access and raise the price when it transitions to full release, reflecting the expanded content and overall improvements. We will announce the full-release price and the timing of the change in advance through Steam announcements. Players who purchase the game during Early Access will retain access to the full version without an additional purchase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use the Steam Community discussions to gather bug reports, suggestions, and feedback on the game.
We are particularly interested in players’ experiences with the controls, the pace of mining and fabrication, autonomous fleet behavior, discoveries during exploration, and combat difficulty.
We will consider this feedback alongside its impact on the game and the feasibility of proposed changes when setting development priorities. Update announcements will explain the changes we have made and share our plans for further development.”

About This Game

Build a fleet from a single self-replicating spacecraft.

You are a machine intelligence, newly rebooted in space. All you have is a small supply of materials and a 3D printer. Fabricate propulsion, solar panels, and a mining unit to begin your journey.

STAR REPLICA is a single-player space exploration game about piloting, mining, upgrading your ship, and building an autonomous fleet through self-replication.

Turn resources into a growing spacecraft

Extract materials from asteroids and planetary deposits, then fabricate and upgrade your ship's modules. Expand your propulsion, power generation, mining, storage, and defenses. New equipment becomes part of your ship's appearance, too. Choose what to build next as you prepare for the journey ahead.

Replicate yourself and put your fleet to work

Build new spacecraft through self-replication. Set their resource and fabrication priorities, then let them mine and upgrade themselves autonomously. Deploy warehouses to stockpile supplies and support your next expedition.

Transfer your consciousness between ships in your fleet. Take control of an explorer at the frontier or switch to a resource-gathering vessel. Move your attention where it is needed as your reach expands.

Explore with inertia and gravity

Accelerate, adjust your heading, and brake as you approach your destination. Fly manually through space, land on planets, and approach their mineral deposits. Unlock autonomous control to let AUTO mode handle navigation and mining.

Discover varied planets, asteroid belts, comets, and dangerous celestial bodies. Manage your fuel and power, strengthen your hull, and venture farther into space.

Face hostile machines and follow distant signals

Other machines will challenge your journey. Equip weapons and fight back with lock-on guided attacks and combat drones.

Along the way, you may pick up a mysterious signal. Where is it coming from? Keep mining, building, and replicating to discover what lies beyond.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI was used during development to create some visual assets, including the title artwork and app icon. AI tools also assisted with some 3D models, in-game text, localization, and sound effects. The game does not use generative AI services to create content during play.
