Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Frontier's core gameplay systems are in place and the game is playable from beginning through its current progression. Early Access gives us an opportunity to put those systems in the hands of a wider range of players while development continues. Player feedback will be especially valuable for refining balance, progression, pacing, automation, combat, and the interaction between Frontier's farming, exploration, and production systems.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Frontier to remain in Early Access for approximately 6-12 months based on the remaining scope to be completed. This is an estimate rather than a fixed deadline, and the length of Early Access may change based on development progress and player feedback. Our priority is to reach the scope and level of refinement we want for the full release rather than target a specific date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, we plan to expand and refine Frontier's existing systems while adding additional content across the game. This includes further development of farming and automation, exploration and expeditions, combat, crafting and production, progression, the frontier colony, and the world surrounding it.

We also plan to use player feedback and gameplay data to improve balance, pacing, usability, and the ways these systems interact. The exact scope and priorities may evolve during Early Access as we learn how players approach the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Frontier currently includes its core gameplay loop and progression systems. Players can reclaim and develop an abandoned alien homestead, grow crops, use agricultural robots to automate work, gather and process resources, craft and produce goods, and contribute to the growth of the nearby frontier colony.

Beyond the homestead, players can undertake expeditions into forest and desert environments to explore, fight hostile creatures, gather resources, discover new biological materials, and bring what they find back home to support further development.

The major systems planned for the initial Early Access release are playable and integrated. Development during Early Access will focus on refinement, balancing, additional content, and expanding the existing game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to keep Frontier at its Early Access price during development and may increase the price for the full release to reflect the additional content and features added over the course of Early Access. Any pricing changes will be communicated in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will be an important part of Frontier's Early Access development. We plan to use Steam Discussions and other community feedback to identify bugs, usability issues, balance problems, and areas where progression or gameplay could be improved.

We are particularly interested in seeing how players approach Frontier's interconnected systems, including farming, automation, production, exploration, and combat. That feedback will help inform development priorities as Frontier moves toward its full release.”

About This Game

Build a working homestead on an alien frontier

Frontier combines farm planning and automation with hands-on action RPG expeditions. You supervise the homestead rather than performing every routine job yourself: design fields, place infrastructure, set work priorities, and let your AGR units build, plant, maintain, harvest, and transport what the farm produces.

While the machines work, you are free to explore, fight, trade, research, and decide how your holding will contribute to the nearby colony.

Plan, automate, and expand

Turn an overgrown agricultural claim into an interconnected production system. Grow alien crops, construct specialized buildings, manage power and logistics, process raw harvests into valuable goods, and reorganize your homestead as new land and technology become available.

Your AGR fleet has limited time, energy, and carrying capacity. Setting priorities matters: the farm will keep operating without constant supervision, but its efficiency depends on the systems you build and the decisions you make.

Leave the farm and face the frontier yourself

Travel by dropship into multi-stage forest and desert expeditions where automated machinery cannot solve every problem. Fight native creatures with melee weapons, firearms, and specialized tools, search for valuable materials, and decide how far to push before extracting with what you have recovered.

The frontier’s wildlife is more than a source of loot. Discover living organisms in the field, work with colony researchers to understand them, and bring viable specimens home to unlock new crops and biological production systems.

Connect exploration, research, and production

What you recover during expeditions feeds back into the homestead. New resources enable research, processed materials support construction, and biological discoveries open entirely new forms of cultivation—from towering fruit-bearing trees and alien root crops to resin-producing insect colonies and subterranean livestock habitats.

In turn, a stronger farm gives you the equipment and resources needed to travel farther and confront more dangerous regions.

Become part of a growing colony

Frontier is an optimistic science-fiction RPG about building a better life beyond humanity’s crowded core worlds. Meet the specialists keeping the settlement alive, assist with research and infrastructure, trade the products of your homestead, and watch your work become part of the colony’s wider future.

The current Early Access game includes the Homestead Core and Eastern Meadow farming regions, automated AGR construction and production, crop and habitat progression, processing and logistics, colony services, research and equipment development, and combat expeditions through forest and desert environments.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Frontier was conceived, designed, directed, and extensively play tested by a solo developer. Generative AI was used as the primary production tool to implement that vision, including programming, artwork, audio, writing, and other game assets. Every aspect of the game was developed through an iterative human-directed process, with the developer specifying requirements, reviewing results, requesting revisions, making design decisions, integrating systems, and personally testing and approving the final content. No generative AI is used during gameplay.
