About This Game

THE DRIFT WENT DARK

The five beacons that held the route open died one after another, and with them the only map nobody ever needed to read. What is left of the convoys circles thirty systems, between rock fields, radiant clouds, and whatever lives in the dark now. You take a hull, a pilot, and you go relight the beacons.

TWO, THREE, FOUR

Vesper Drift plays solo or up to four, over LAN or the Internet. The host is authoritative over the simulation: nobody plays a slightly different game from their neighbour. Everyone keeps their own purse, picks their own hull and builds their own ship, and a crew whose four ships look alike is a crew that played badly.

EVERY RUN BUILDS A SHIP

Between waves, the stall opens. The workshop improves what you already have: engine, rate of fire, damage, hull, spawn guard, projectiles per volley. The black market sells what you do not have: thirty-six weapons across four firing families (ballistic, plasma, energy, gravitic) and twenty-seven modules that change how they fire. A weapon REPLACES the one you carry; a module ADDS to what you have. Some combinations form synergies that have a name, and that name shows on screen.

BOSSES THAT ANNOUNCE THEMSELVES

A boss is a core surrounded by modules: you take it apart piece by piece, and its fury begins at half health. Each one telegraphs what it is about to do, because a boss that hits without warning reads as a bug, never as difficulty.

PROGRESSION WITH A STYLE

What survives a run is the bank and the talent tree. Five branches leave the harbour office: crew, fortune, arsenal, fleet, drift. You do not walk two branches at once, and you have to pay for the path to reach what sits at its end. Two players never open the same tree.

WHAT IS IN IT

Thirty systems, five chapters, five beacons to relight. Nine playable hulls, from the MicroRecon to the Ultraviolet Intruder. Thirty-six weapons, twenty-seven modules, nine workshop upgrades. Co-op up to four, LAN and Internet, authoritative host. Gamepad, keyboard and touch, on a fixed 60 Hz simulation.

LANGUAGE

The game itself is entirely in French: interface, logbook, transmissions. An English version of the game does not exist yet.
