What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core game is complete and fun: four stages, nine bosses and 50 balls. We want players to help us balance it - which balls are too strong, which combos break the game - and to shape the content we add next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 6-12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More balls, artifacts and bosses, more starting decks, a daily challenge, final art and music, more languages, a Mac version, and balance changes from player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable from start to finish: 4 decks, 50 balls, 26 artifacts, 16 stickers, 7 wall upgrades, 11 items, 4 stages and 9 bosses, 10 difficulty levels per deck, a tutorial, saving between sessions, and 6 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will rise at full release, as more content is added. Early Access players get the full game at the lower price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam forums (and a Discord server once it opens): balance polls, bug reports and a public roadmap. Balance changes are driven by what players report.”

About This Game

Throw. Bounce. Explode. Repeat.

Balliators is a roguelike deckbuilder where your deck is made of balls. Think Roman gladiator games, but every fighter is a ball: a Thracian, a Retiarius, a Kamikaze, a Ghost. Draw a hand, load your fighters into catapults and launch them into the arena. Every ball has its own rule: some grow with each hit, some steal points, some summon friends, some blow up everything around them. When the timer runs out, they explode for points. Reach the target score to win the arena.

Every ball bends the rules

Collect 50 balls across five rarities - Common, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond. A Mother ball releases a swarm of children when it explodes, a Kamikaze doubles its points off the walls, a Ghost drifts through other balls and copies a share of their points. The fun is in the combos: find the balls that make each other stronger and watch the numbers climb.

Build your run

  • Draft balls into your deck from gifts, prizes and the shop

  • 26 artifacts that change the rules for the whole run

  • 16 stickers that upgrade a single ball

  • 7 wall upgrades that turn the arena itself into a weapon

  • 11 items you drop into the arena mid-fight

  • Score multipliers for every rarity

Four stages, nine bosses

Travel a map of arenas, shops and camps. Every stage ends with a boss that breaks the rules in its own way - locking your cards, halving your score, raising the dead. Beat all four stages to win the run.

Ten difficulty levels

Beat the final boss with a deck to unlock its next level - ten per deck. Every level adds a twist: slower balls, shorter explosions, higher goals, pricier shops, tougher bosses.

Features

  • Fast runs full of physics chaos - no two rolls play the same

  • Four starting decks, each with its own style

  • A friendly tutorial taught by the Teacher ball

  • Clear numbers: every hit and every explosion shows what it scored

  • Pick your battle speed - 1x, 3x, 6x or 12x - right in the arena

  • Mouse-only controls, playable in short sessions

  • Playable in English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian
