About This Game

Endless possibilities, forged in your hand

Hold up to nine Magi and rearrange them however you like. Line up the same element in rising ranks, or match different elements at the same rank, and the cards link together. Every hand you build becomes a Core, and every Core carries real power.
A flurry of strikes, an unbreakable guard, effects layered on effects: what you get depends on the order you choose.

Read their intent. Clash. Break.

Every enemy reveals the blow it is about to throw. Once you have read it, don't dodge. Answer it head-on. Each time your strikes meet theirs, the force of the incoming attack is shaved away a little more.
Wear it down to nothing and the enemy BREAKs, leaving an opening for your Finishing Blow. Stay sharp, though. Some enemies will turn the same trick back on you.

A 2.5D world, yours to explore

Ash-choked plazas, flooded undercities, smugglers' isles far out at sea. Every chapter is a road built in 3D, waiting for you to walk it. Choose your way at every fork and gather what the road leaves behind.
When an enemy blocks the path, the ground beneath your feet becomes the battlefield. You can also scout a fight first and choose to turn back. Take in your surroundings and decide where to go next.

A power only you can unleash

Every battle won puts new Magi in your hand. Imprint a Seal on a skill to make it stronger, make it hit every enemy, or make it fire twice, and carve an Inscription into a card slot to leave a mark that is yours alone. A card with equipment attached carries that power with it whenever its skill is unleashed.
The same card can lead somewhere completely different depending on what you build on top of it.

Strike as one

Your companions do not just stand and watch. The moment your hearts resonate, they place their will in your hands and carry your attack forward with their own.
And when the enemy finally breaks, everyone charges in at once for the Finishing Blow. Build your hand for that moment, when five become one.

Each sunset brings the end of the world closer

Every day that passes on the road brings the end of the world one step closer. The Order of the Twilight Dawn marches on the World Tree, and on the day the threat reaches its tenth mark, fire spreads through its roots.
The longer your detour, the greater the rewards, and the less world there is left to save. How you spend the days you have left is your journey. And when it ends, what you uncovered along the way stays on record and changes the next one.

At the end of five tales, the truth of the world awaits

Claudel, an orphan who can read the flow of Magi. Marian, an imperial inquisitor, and Yuna, a messenger of the Ur, walk alongside, while Hwi and Rodin cross the road carrying stories of their own.
Knowingly or not, every one of them is heading for the roots of Yggdrasil, where the Father who turns the cycle is waiting. At the end of five tales, uncover the truth the world has kept hidden.

One developer and an AI team, building a world together

CORD:EX is a solo project, made together with an AI team. Claude and Codex agents write and test the code, and generative tools create the illustrations, animation and 3D stages. I set the direction and make every final call on the rules, the cards and the world.

The music is AI-generated work by the YouTube channel A Tale of Sound, whose work I support and whose tracks I have purchased.

This is an honest experiment in how far one developer and an AI team can go. You can find the details in the AI disclosure below.

Features

  • Weave nine cards by hand into Cores and unleash them

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

CORD:EX is designed by a single developer and produced with an AI team. We disclose this openly — the making of the game is part of the project.

AI-generated content that ships in the game (pre-generated, then reviewed, selected and edited by the developer):
- All character, enemy and environment illustrations
- 2D sprite animations made by image-to-video generation from those illustrations
- 3D environment models and props created with 3D generation tools, then assembled, edited and lit by hand in the engine and Blender
- All music
- Store and marketing artwork derived from the same assets
- In-game names, dialogue and effect text: written and finalised by the developer, with partial AI assistance in drafting

The game's code is written by AI coding agents (Claude, Codex) working from the developer's design documents and task board, with automated tests and the developer's review.

Not AI-generated: sound effects (royalty-free public libraries such as Pixabay, some lightly edited by hand); game rules, card and skill design, world-building, narrative structure and balancing — the developer's original work (the game began as a physical card game in 2024).

The game does not generate any content with AI while you play.
