About This Game

You have been cast from your magical realm and wake up in the world of ETERNAL SOLITUDE, surrounded by a small group of settlers, ready to found the first city, the capital of your empire. Rule the society, research and cast spells, both overland and in tactical combat, spy on your opponents, in this new 4X fantasy game. Every decision you make, every battle you win or lose, every spell you cast, every strategic, tactical or local initiative you enact, has a range of short- and long-term consequences. Die like a slave, or become the true Master of the World of Eternal Solitude!

  • As a Wizard, you get to choose your RETORTS, each with a range of positive and negative perks, and INITIATIVES targeting cities, armies, tactical combat or the whole empire. These include the abilities to buy and sell slaves in cities, declare the state of quarantine to curb PLAGUE, freeze TAX RATE to prevent riots and much, much more.

  • Four realms of magic: Chaos, Death, Life and Hexcraft, each with 40 spells and features that extend into every aspect of gameplay, affecting other choices, from buildings in cities to societal choices. There are a total of NINE types of spells: direct damage, conjuration, unit, city, global and combat enchantments, evil rituals, restoration and terraforming. All spells are either overland (cast on the global map) or tactical (cast in combat).

  • Five playable major races: Dark Elves, High Elves, High Men, Kobolds and Gnomes, each with a deep and unique SOCIETY that evolves independently of the Wizard. Dark Elves society is based around feuding clans, High Elves have deep connections with nature, High Men are feudal, Kobolds run warrens connecting cities and Gnomes have guilds. Additionally, minor races exist that can be controlled, enslaved or exterminated.

  • Complicated INTERRACIAL relations that you have to learn to control to avoid pogroms and racial wars in your empire. Races have varying degrees of hatred and resentment towards other races, varying from extreme for Dark Elves to fairly low for the Gnomes.

  • Master the ESPIONAGE to deal damage to your opponent Wizards and block the harm done by them to you. Prevent assassination attempts, poison water in enemy cities, sabotage spell research and casting, turn their own armies against them!

  • Demo is limited to 50 turns

  • You play as the adept of the realm of CHAOS and the ruler of the DARK ELVES

  • 40 CHAOS spells (28 overland and 12 tactical) across 6 groups: direct damage, city enchantments, global enchantments, conjuration, combat enchantment and unit enchantments with the focus on aggressive, fire-based damage and sowing the seeds of anarchy and discord in your enemies. Many spells have a range of consequences, for example a city enchantment increases the production at the cost of higher unrest or hex enchantment that maximizes mana output at the cost of all other resources.

  • Deep, novel DARK ELF society layer with a strong FEEDBACK mechanism: a system of CLANS embroiled in an endless feud, forming alliances and oppositions independently. They view you both as a threat, and and opportunity: they offer you contracts, and whether you SUCEED, FAIL or FLIP in them, will determine their loyalty, power and contribution to your empire. Alienate them, and they can desert you and serve another Wizard, or turn them into your pets that will do as you please!

  • Since DARK ELVES are deeply magical creatures and slaveowners, loyal CLANS will contribute to your spell research, casting, mana generation, provide SLAVES to your cities and units to your army. Hostile clans will do all they can to harm you: sabotage spell research and casting, steal mana, and even defect to an enemy Wizard!

  • Contracts with DARK ELF clans include: defeating their opponents, destroying an army of escaped slaves, researching and casting spells, making the clan stronger, more affluent or having more SLAVES. In some of the contracts you can FLIP, for example destroy the clan rather than its enemy. Or BRIBE the army of slaves to join your empire. All of these have vast far-reaching consequences, going above and beyond your relationship with the clan itself: relationship with all DARK ELF clans, FILTH and UNREST in cities, CORRUPTION in the empire, and a lot more.

  • All cities in the World of Eternal Solitude suffer from UNREST and FILTH that can cause, resp., a REVOLT (secession from your empire) or PLAGUE (the city starts to decay). To fight these afflictions, you can construct buildings, cast spells or enact city initiatives. The price of these initiatives or spells is not only gold or mana, but often human sacrifices, public executions and even DEFENESTRATION. Cities include a system of SLAVES, that contribute to building and unit construction, but also to higher UNREST and FILTH, potentially causing SLAVE REVOLTS or PLAGUE.

  • Tactical combat with deep maneuvering, landscape and unit formation features. Outcome of every battle has substantial short- and long-term consequences, sending ripples through your society that scales with the size of the battle (sieges are particularly important). Triumph in combat, and your empire will love you. Fail, and you will dread the consequences. These include: unrest and productivity in cities, loyalty of the DARK ELF clans, Wizard's fame, new units, spells power, etc.

  • System of imperial, tactical, urban and army INITIATIVES: these include freezing the tax rate, calling reinforcements in combat, unit decimation to improve the army's morale, quarantine to reduce filth and stop a plague in a city, free food to reduce unrest, and a lot more.
