Around Journeybound Idle's launch in early August 2026, one of our wonderful community members asked me if I would consider adding a DLC pack of anime-themed portraits. Given that the theme of the game is isekai related and about starting out in a new world, I agreed that it was a great idea. I promised I would release a complete alternative art set this year. This release is a follow up on that promise!

The Anime-Inspired Portrait Pack

• This is a complete set of 98 portraits, replacing every Character, NPC, Boss, and Entity in game that has their own portrait for questing, dialogue, or combat.

• The set is fully opt-in. You can go to the Settings panel after loading your character anytime, to enable or disable the Portrait Pack.

How to turn it on

• Click Download on this page to add the pack to your account.

• Start Journeybound Idle, or click back into it if it is already open. Portraits switch to the Anime Pack if you add the DLC with the game currently running. Voila! You're all set.

• To go back to the original game portraits, open Settings, find Portrait Style, and pick Original.

As a solo developer, I unfortunately cannot afford to hire artists or creators, so the media in my game is a mix of AI-generated and hand-edited/crafted. I would love to have my assets professionally made, but the cost of somewhere around two thousand icons, portraits, and other media assets would be far more than I can afford as just some guy working alone. I've done my best to create the best art and sounds with the tools I have access to, trying extremely hard to make things you will enjoy. If this game were to ever be successful enough, I'd love to hire professional artists one day to remake my assets (and for my future games). I thank you for your understanding, and I hope the game is good enough to get me there eventually!
