Why Early Access?

“Valenya Online is a fantasy 2D MMORPG made by one developer. It already has a persistent world, real-time combat, six playable classes, crafting, player markets, quests, dungeons and raids. The current level cap is 60, and the game is available in English and French.
Early Access will help us improve combat balance, the player economy and group content with feedback from the community. The game is still in active development, and its community is small.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last around twelve months. Our priorities are to improve high-level content, balance and the player economy. This is an estimate, not a fixed release date; we will leave Early Access when the experience is sufficiently polished.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand high-level content with more equipment sets, group encounters and story chapters, and to keep improving combat, crafting and translations. Other systems under consideration include player buildings, additional PvP modes and server-wide events. These plans may evolve with development and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Current progression spans levels 1 to 60. The game includes six playable classes, real-time combat with aimed spells and ground telegraphs, six professions, hundreds of crafting recipes, player markets, direct trading, guilds and trading companies.
You can explore the world, follow the main campaign and complete regional, profession and class quests. Dungeons and raids have different party capacities depending on the location, with raids for up to eight players. Other activities include PvP, pets and optional conversations with some NPCs.
The game is available in English and French. Its community is still small, so player markets can be quiet at certain times. Development continues, with updates to content, balance and translations.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is free to play. All playable content and progression up to the current level cap of 60 are available without a subscription or time pass. The shop sells cosmetics only, with no stats or power advantage. We intend to keep this model during and after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can report bugs, suggest changes and discuss the game on Discord and in the Steam community hub. The developer follows player feedback directly. Release notes are published on the website and in the launcher to explain changes, and community play sessions help us assess group content and balance. The website guide also presents build information based on the server's formulas.”

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some scenery, creature and equipment sprites, as well as some quest texts, were created with the help of generative AI tools, then manually edited and reviewed before integration. Playable characters (Liberated Pixel Cup), music and main texts are human-created works.

During play, some NPCs offer optional, private text conversations generated by external AI services through our game server. A short memory summary may be generated to help that NPC remember previous conversations with the same player. These conversations are separate from scripted quest dialogue and cannot grant quests, items or rewards. This feature has usage limits and carries no additional charge.

Valenya Online is a fantasy 2D MMORPG. Players fight creatures, undead enemies and skeletons shown as 2D sprites, without blood or gore. A consumable food item is mead, a fermented honey drink, with no depiction of drunkenness. The game includes unfiltered player text chat and free-form conversations with some NPCs generated by AI under constraints. The game's authored content contains no nudity, sexual content, or references to drugs, suicide or self-harm.
