ABOUT THIS DEMO

You can forget about chaotic Free-For-Alls or Bughouse. Enkhbayar’s Olympiad Chess turns classical chess into a true, cooperative team sport without sacrificing the identity of the traditional game.

This demo is a showcase of my brand-new multiplayer team chess variant, offering a complete offline single-player experience with native chess bots. It lets you explore the topology, learn the mechanics, and master the tactics before Stockfish catches up!

THE CORE BREAKTHROUGH: THE NEXUS

Imagine an 8-player team match (4v4 format) where every player commands their own dedicated board. Running down the center across all boards is The Nexus (ranks 4 & 5): a single, shared dimensional plane connecting every board simultaneously.

• Universal Presence: Step your Queen into rank 4 or 5 on Board 2, and watch her take control of the battlefield across all realms.

• Flank Invasions: Launch a coordinated attack on the lead player of the opposing team, or reinforce a teammate who is about to get checkmated on the next turn.

• True to the Origin: Unlike 3- or 4-player chess variants where players take turns in a circular sequence, teams in this variant move in synchronized, alternating team volleys.

• Unmatched Potential: Thanks to its non-destructive, respectful approach to the chess we know and love, the Nexus mechanic allows you to seamlessly set up everything from a standard match between two players (1v1 Rivalry) to a full tournament battle where two 4-player teams clash without constraints.

TOTAL SANDBOX FREEDOM

Enjoy complete freedom over your match settings right from the lobby:

• Ready-to-Go Default Settings: Feeling overwhelmed by the options? I’ve got you covered. The default match setup simply asks you to choose a match time and series length, wait for your friends to take their seats, and hit Start—all in under 10 seconds.

• Clean Separation: Experimental concepts and brand-new mechanics are neatly tucked away under the Advanced menu, allowing you to explore and test them at your own pace.

• Host or Play: Host as an Admin spectator to oversee your friends clashing in team matches, or drag yourself into an active seat to join the fight directly.

Olympiad Chess is a solo passion project built from the ground up with the sole purpose of introducing a fresh, competitive multiplayer format to chess esports.
