What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Crystalysis already has hours of play in it, but I'd like it to keep getting better. Right now I'm developing it on my own, and I can't test it objectively. Damage balance, the upgrade pool and the difficulty curve need outside feedback, and they'll probably change and keep being updated with the help and opinions of Early Access players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly six to nine months. It's an estimate, and if it takes longer I'll keep updating the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to add more weapons, passives and evolutions, more enemy types, and a longer progression ladder. Past that I don't have a fixed feature list yet, and I hope the people playing it will help shape what comes next.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game is complete and you can play it from start to finish. What can still change is the content and the balance, and that's what Early Access is for.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will go up slightly for the 1.0 release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and reviews, which I'll be reading. The gameplay data players choose to share, the leaderboards and so on help me spot what's broken or needs balancing, and I plan to run short surveys to ask players directly.”

About This Game

Charge your ball and ricochet it across the arena at top speeds to defend your crystal!

Crystalysis is a fast-paced slingshot game with survivors-like builds and roguelite elements. Your crystal sits in the middle of the arena and waves of enemies come for it. Every level you pick up upgrades. Stack them into a build, mix passives and weapons and evolve them to achieve your crystal aspects.

Unlock upgrades and weapons, level them up past their limit and reach their full potential. Combine passive tags from multiple weapons and make your build insurmountable. Resist, hold, burst the waves.

Features

  • Six artifacts that change how you control the ball and experience the levels, not how big your numbers are: the Ball, the Cannonball, the Katana, the Saw, and two different ways to play the Tether.

  • Six maps with different difficulties and obstacles.

  • Weapons, passives, and Aspects. Carry the right weapon together with the right passive and it rebuilds itself into something unexpected.

  • Tags like fire, ice, kinetic, orbitals, summons and salvo feed into each other, so a passive taken for one reason often improves something you picked for another.

  • Endless runs with no finish line, a Timed Run with a boss battle at the end, and a daily run on a seed that everybody shares.

  • Four ways to aim, from a quick flick to a full slingshot pull.

  • Plays with a mouse, controller and touch controls.

  • Plays entirely offline, in thirteen languages, with online leaderboards when you want them.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The text you read in Crystalysis is written in English and Spanish, then machine-translated into the other eleven languages.

The visuals are drawn procedurally in code, the audio is synthesized while you play. The interface icons were designed with an AI design tool and edited by the developer, and the remaining small bitmaps come from the open Twemoji and Kenney sets..

The game's code and the text on this store page were written with the help of an AI assistant and edited by the developer.
