What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Age of Harvest is a simulation-first game. Many systems only become clear when real players push on them for a long time.

I'm using Early Access to put a playable build in front of players early, gather feedback on what feels fair and readable, and keep expanding the simulation with the community watching the same version we are building.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Early Access to last at least 1 year, depending on feedback, stability, and how much content and systems work remains before we feel ready for a full release.

That is only a planning range. If the game needs more time, we plan to stay in Early Access longer and keep players updated through Steam news and our community channels.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to be a deeper, more complete simulation experience built on the same core systems players can try in Early Access.

Areas we plan to expand include:
- Stronger long-term progression (skills and growth through use)
- More complete survival loops around food, cooking, rest, and recovery
- Broader world content, situations, and things to do between fights
- Better save/load and long-session stability
- More polish to UI readability, tutorials/onboarding, and performance
- More content density: places, items, encounters, and NPC interactions

Lore, mystery, and world story (planned direction):
- We plan to grow a denser layer of lore that players can uncover through play.
- We plan to add more mysteries in the world, things like odd places, traces of what happened before, unanswered details that reward careful exploration
- We plan to lean harder into environmental storytelling and arrangement of spaces that suggest events and information about the world
- We plan for NPCs, locations, and systems to carry more of the story through what they do and how they change

Emergent gameplay (planned direction):
- Age of Harvest is simulation-first. We plan for more moments where the "story" comes from systems colliding. For example injury, hunger, gear failure, travel, trade, weather, and other people's behavior
- We plan to expand the range of situations that can arise naturally from those systems, so two playthroughs can diverge in tone and outcome
- We plan to keep refining feedback so emergent events are readable. Players should understand what happened and why.

Priorities can change based on player feedback. Planned additions are intentions, not guarantees.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access build is a playable foundation. Players can already explore multi-level spaces, fight, take injuries that change what the body can still do, manage inventory and loot, repair and deal with gear durability, trade, gather materials (including harvest, scrap, and butchering), and interact with NPCs.

Hunger, thirst, food, and related survival pressure are present but still being deepened. Mental systems, character progression through use, save/load, and broader content density are among the areas we are still actively working on.

We are still missing lots of systems, incomplete content, balance changes, and occasional bugs. We plan to update regularly and keep this description current as the build grows.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to start Early Access at a price that matches the current playable content, and we plan to raise the price over time as we ship major systems and content updates.

Early Access supporters keep the game when the price goes up.

If our pricing plan changes, we will say so clearly in a Steam news post before any base price change.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to develop in the open with players:

- Steam Discussions and Steam news/announcements for patch notes, known issues, and direction changes
- Our Discord and social channels for faster feedback and bug reports
- A public roadmap page so players can see what is done, in progress, or still missing
- Listening closely to reports about clarity (what the game is telling you), fairness of injury/survival systems, and what sessions feel worth replaying
- We plan to build an optional system that can send a log of character actions from a play session. The goal is better analysis of where sessions break down, what players try, and which systems feel unclear or unfair.
- We plan to keep it focused on gameplay actions for design work, NOT on collecting personal information beyond what is needed to improve the game.
- If/when this system ships, we plan to explain clearly what is sent, keep it opt-in when possible, and let players know how to turn it off.

We cannot implement every request, but we plan to use community feedback to decide what to polish next and what to cut or delay.”

About This Game

Age of Harvest is a 2D simulation traditional Roguelike set in a dark, living world. Explore, fight, gather, trade, and survive through systems that react to what you do. Beyond the places you know, an ever-changing labyrinth stretches into the unknown, its origin lost to time. Its mysteries are waiting to be uncovered. Perhaps you are the cartographer foretold to map the unknown and finally bring about the true Age of Harvest, or most likely you'll only become another of the millions of victims swallowed by its shifting jaws.

What you do

  • Explore an ever-changing labyrinth where places, paths, and dangers are never the same

  • Fight enemies with their own behaviours, senses, needs, and ways of reacting to the world

  • Discover strange cultures, factions, beliefs, and mysterious events hidden throughout the world

  • Survive with a fragile body and a dynamic, organ-based health system where injuries can change how you fight and move

  • Gather, hunt, butcher, craft, repair, trade, and make use of whatever the world gives you

  • Interact with NPCs whose lives, relationships, and actions continue beyond your own

  • Uncover the mysteries of the world and search for the truth behind the ever-changing labyrinth

Age of Harvest is built around simulation and discovery. There are no fixed paths through the world and no single way to approach its problems.
