Push dirt, haul dirt, ride dirt. There is no solid ground in this game: every bucketful moves, slumps, packs and stays where you left it, and it's up to you to rip it up any way you want. Drive real machines, alone or with friends, on the road to the greatest dirt sim in existence.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dirt Town is built on a soil simulation that is already the game: the ground flows, slumps, packs and keeps every cubic metre you move. What sits on top of it, the sites, the jobs, the machines and the polish, is still being built, and we would rather build it with players in the seat than guess. Early Access lets you drive it now and tell us where the dirt feels wrong.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect around a year. The pace is set by how fast the town grows and by what players ask for, so it may run longer, and we would rather leave Early Access late than early.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to grow the sites toward one large town and its landscape, add road building with real grading tools, bring in more machines and more things to ride, and give the machines and the people on foot the finish they lack today. We also plan to make finding and joining friends simpler, and to keep tuning how the machines and the ground feel.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable and stable with some rough edges. There is a wheel loader with a bucket and a snow plow, a crawler dozer, a dirt bike and a tracked rescue carrier. A selection of sites: a quarry, an open hillside, a valley road network, a creek you can dam, and snowed-in villages.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The Early Access price is lower than the full release price, and we plan to raise it in steps as the town grows and larger features land. Whoever buys in Early Access keeps the game at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam forums and our Discord. Join and tell us what you think, and report any problems!”

About This Game

Dirt Town simulates real dirt, in a way few if any games have done before. Always dreamt about driving heavy machinery? Want to build your own moto track and ride it? Want to plow real snow? Want to do it with your friends?

The ground is the game

The whole site is one simulation. Loose soil flows and slumps at its angle of repose, clay holds a wall, sand does not, and every tyre leaves a rut. Nothing is faked with decals or pre-baked holes: the pile shrinks when you scoop it, the trench is really there, and every cubic metre you move is still there an hour later. Water pools, runs and floods when you dam a creek, and snow keeps falling on the village until someone ploughs it.

What you can do right now

  • Drive a wheel loader with a bucket or a snow plow, a crawler dozer, a dirt bike, and a tracked rescue carrier, all with honest weight and hydraulics
  • Work a quarry, an open hillside, a valley road network, and a creek you can dam
  • Keep the roads open in snowed-in villages built from real Swiss map data
  • Take jobs graded live on the ground itself: level a pad, dig a foundation, fill a hopper, cut a ramp, clear a plot
  • Set charges on foot and blast rock into rubble you can load
  • Climb out of the cab and walk the site, then climb into another machine
  • Play online with friends on the same site, every peer moving the same dirt
  • Keyboard and gamepad

Where we are going

This is Early Access and the simulation came first. Our vision is a vibrant 10x10 km town and landscape where you can do just about anything you want, from constructing roads to riding snowboards. We plan to grow the sites toward that town, add road building with real grading tools, more machines and more things to ride, and the polish the machines and the people on foot still lack. Join us early: the dirt already works, and the town is being built on it.

Machines, sites and the simulation are hand made. Some store art and a few of the 3D models were made with AI tools.
