About This Game

"The Archkeeper tore open the World-Tree to consume its arcane power. The magic broke loose, and the realms have been withering ever since. You woke beneath the dying Tree with no memory, bound to it so tightly that you cannot truly die. Only fall, return, and go again."

Spellsanity is a dark fantasy survivors roguelite with bullet heaven combat. You play the last keeper of the World-Tree, and every bit of power you take from the loose magic costs you a piece of your sanity. Every run you draft a fresh set of spells, cut through hordes of corrupted creatures, face the guardians that hold each realm, and come home to the Sanctum a little stronger each time.

Features

  • Draft your build every run. Pick from a pool of spells and passives as you level, evolve them into stronger forms, and chase the synergies that turn a good run into a broken one

  • Five withered realms. The Verdant Plains, the Ember Wastes, the Frostspire Peaks, the Stormveil Reach and the Obsidian Abyss, each with its own creatures, bosses and hazards.

  • Loot that changes how you play. Randomized gear with rolled affixes, plus unique items and staves that bend the rules. Your staff decides the spell you start with.

  • The Sanctum. Your home beneath the World-Tree starts empty. Rescue vendors from their cages out in the realms and they set up shop there; run by run the hollow fills with life, and has many secrets to discover.

  • The Rune Obelisk. Every run pays out Rune Dust. Spend it at the Obelisk on a skill-tree: raw power, new status effects for your spells, and keystones that trade one strength for another. Boss sigils unseal its deeper branches.

  • Shrines. The realms are dotted with shrines that heal, arm, test or tempt you. Which ones you touch shapes the run as much as your spells do.

  • Ascend, and pay for it. Cleansed realms can be revisited with the Withering turned up: harder foes, richer loot, and a keeper who grows stronger with every rebirth.

  • The Depths. Beat a realm and a red portal opens beside the way home. Endless mode with no way back, see how deep you get, and climb the weekly ranking.

A story that ends two ways

Something in the Abyss recognizes you. Find out who you are, and what the World-Tree is not telling you. What you do with the answer is up to you.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Spellsanity is made by one person and uses generative AI as a tool, not as a substitute for design.

Art: Much of the pixel art (enemies, bosses, characters, portraits, story stills, environment details) was produced with AI image generators and then reworked by hand: reduced to the game's colour palette, corrected pixel by pixel, animated and fitted into the game. Some of the art (surfaces, effects, UI frames) was drawn without AI or generated procedurally.

Text: Dialogue, descriptions and help texts were written with AI assistance and revised by the developer. The translations from English (German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese) were produced with AI and spot-checked; please report mistakes.

Code: AI assistants were used during programming.

Music and sound are not AI: the music is licensed work by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), the sound effects are synthesized.

No AI runs inside the game. All content is shipped with the game and was reviewed before release; nothing is generated at runtime.
