Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Planned to run until Q2 2027, depending on community engagement.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to refine the balance, default rules, pace of matches, performance, interface and computer opponents. Some of the visuals and audio may also change based on player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The beta offers play against computer opponents, local multiplayer and online matches, with configurable rules. It includes territory control, economic development, trading, construction, and economic and military cards. Some visual assets are temporary.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

About This Game

Serpent City is a turn-based board game about the struggle for influence. Build your economy, trade, fight and outsmart your rivals. The available moves are easy to understand; choosing the best one is where the challenge begins.

Simple decisions. Lasting consequences.

A roll of two dice determines your movement points. Divide them between your pieces, decide where to establish a presence and weigh immediate rewards against future income. Control territories, construct buildings and compete for the capital to increase your influence.

Make the most of your chances

Dice and card draws create opportunities and keep the outcome uncertain. Your decisions determine how you respond: strengthen your economy, negotiate a trade or commit to a conflict. Combat itself is resolved through visible strength, defensive bonuses and the cards played by both sides. A strong position takes planning; adapting when circumstances change takes judgment.

Build, trade and compete

  • Compete in matches for two to six players, with human or computer-controlled opponents.
  • Manage coins, weapons, documents, fuel and diamonds. Trade with other players or exchange resources with the bank.
  • Use economic and military cards to develop your position and influence conflicts.
  • Choose when to share a territory, invest in it or challenge another player's control.
  • Configure rules such as costs, limits, bonuses and card availability to explore different ways to play.
  • Play against the computer, with friends on the same computer or in online matches.

One thing is certain — someone has to win!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI assisted with minor illustrations, promotional artwork and partially with translations. The main idea and the game's textures, 3D models and music were created traditionally.
Most of the development effort has focused on building neural-network players and testing and refining the game's configurable rules. Across development, millions of simulated matches were used to train and evaluate computer players, examine interactions between rules and identify edge cases. It would not be possible to create such a game without a dedicated statistician if not for AI assistance.
