About This Game

A campaign book you inhabit by typing

Obsidian Spire is a grim module for adult tables. You type what you do. The Spire table is the dungeon master. It rolls the dice. DRM-free Windows and Linux builds. Offline. No always-online client.

You grew up in Elderglen. Last night the harvest bell rang for three houses and nobody answered. Beds still made. Purple glass in the north-road ruts. Walk north on foot through towns that still have mill-wheels, into a wood that buries travelers who camp, to a black tower. A wizard found a cursed book; it ate him; he is a purple crystal on the Spire's crown.

Wash the bruise in the Crypt and Elderglen can live again. Wear it, or leave it on the nail, and the hometown stays a hole. Those are real doors in the story. Kill the lung and you can take the bruise by steel, then wash. Under the First Vault, counted brass and softer hungers wait if you learn how to go deeper.

The marches

The Spire table

- Six scores. A d20 on the hit and on persuade. Open dice keep the high; shut dice keep the low. Saves on the six

- Type rest on the road. Type sleep behind a barred door

- Session 0: custom race and class, then scores, then two workings

- Talk: type talk Marta, a number, or write your own line. People remember what you did

- Yggdrasil: type tree

- Keyboard and mouse. Optional: Control or F8 to dictate

- Optional spoken narration uses your operating system voice. There is no language model in the download. This is a scripted module, not a live AI dungeon master

One campaign

One grim typed book — Session 0 through the Spire, the Crypt, and what comes after. Same save. Your character and the people they know stay in the slot. On Steam, Cloud can sync those saves between machines when enabled. Steam ships Windows and Linux.
