What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want player feedback while I work on Desmarchon's endgame balance. Higher Depths and longer runs still need tuning, especially where builds stop keeping up or progression becomes repetitive.

The Campaign and Deep Space modes are playable. During Early Access, I'll adjust the balance and keep adding to the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm aiming for 6 to 12 months. That could change if balancing the later Depths or fixing problems takes longer than expected.

I'll post any changes to the estimate in the Steam Community Hub.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to rebalance the later Depths and revisit skills and items that fall behind or crowd out other choices. I'd also like to add more skills, items and encounters that give you a reason to try a different build.

Busy fights need more work on performance and clear visual effects. I also plan to make choosing upgrades and changing gear easier.

The scope and order of this work may change with testing and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build has chain-weaving combat, 16 Campaign operations and 30 Deep Space destinations, including endless Shardwake. Campaign missions include objectives, sector scenarios and in-mission comms.

All three doctrines are playable: Weaver, Carrier and Gunship. You pick upgrades during runs and develop equipment and talents between them. Gear fills seven slots and comes in four rarities, with salvage, mod additions and rerolls.

Deep Space uses shared Depth unlocks. Complete the objective at your highest unlocked Depth, then end the run to unlock the next Depth across all destinations. In Shardwake, quick, safe clears activate Fast Descent. Reached Depths and earned loot stay yours even after hull loss, and you can end a run from the menu whenever you're ready.

Reality Manifolds change Deep Space enemies, difficulty and loot. You can play offline.

Balance at higher Depths still needs more player testing. Performance, combat readability and the interface are also areas I plan to improve.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I plan to raise the price for version 1.0, and it may also go up during Early Access after substantial updates.

Early Access buyers keep their copy. I intend to include all Early Access updates and version 1.0 with that purchase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Post bug reports and feedback in the Steam Community Hub. For balance reports, include your doctrine, gear, destination and Depth, and tell me where the run felt too easy or started to drag.

I'll post update notes there and open discussions about specific changes. Player reports will help me set priorities alongside testing. I'll consider suggestions within Desmarchon's direction and the scope of Early Access.”

About This Game

Desmarchon is a singleplayer sci-fi survivor-like. Draw a chain through drifting Anomalies, then release to burst them. Decide when to keep weaving and when to clear space before your hull gives out.

Build your ship

Choose one of three doctrines: Weaver for chains, Carrier for drones or Gunship for automatic weapons. Pick upgrades during each run. Between missions, use equipment, crafting and the talent tree to develop your ship.

Gear comes in four rarities: normal, magic, rare and unique. Fill seven equipment slots, salvage unwanted drops for Schematics, and spend them to add or reroll mods.

From Campaign to Deep Space

Play through 16 Campaign operations with mission objectives, sector scenarios and in-mission comms. Then head into 30 Deep Space destinations to find gear and try out builds.

Destinations have different enemy mixes and mission conditions, and some have extra entry requirements. Named bosses, portals and Amalgams can appear during combat.

Choose your destination and Depth

Depth sets the difficulty in Deep Space. Revisit an unlocked Depth to farm gear or test a build. Complete the objective at your highest unlocked Depth, then end the run to unlock the next Depth across all destinations.

Shardwake is the endless route. Clear quickly and safely to activate Fast Descent and reach tougher Depths sooner. Your earned loot and reached Depths stay with you, even if your ship is destroyed. End the run from the menu whenever you're ready.

Before a Deep Space mission, choose Reality Manifolds to change its enemies, difficulty and loot. Some destinations need particular Manifolds or keys.

You can play Desmarchon offline.
