About This Game

A FIRST-PERSON SURVIVAL RPG ABOUT REBUILDING A LAWLESS VALLEY.

Deepwood Valley has fallen. Bandits hold the roads, the villages pay whoever frightens them most, and honest people keep their heads down. A Kingdom waits to the east, an Empire to the west, and neither will leave good land ungoverned forever. You arrive at a near-empty castle with one loyal villager, a few allies, and no authority at all.

WHAT YOU DO

Survive, gather, craft, and build — in first person, in a living world. Clear land and raise structures. Work fields and set traps to feed the people who join you. Forge tools and weapons. Research better ways to do all of it. And when you meet the people of the valley, you talk to them face to face — negotiate, persuade, threaten, or make a deal. Diplomacy is as much a part of the game as the sword.

CLASSIC d20 RULES UNDER THE HOOD

Deepwood Valley runs on a classic tabletop d20 ruleset. Characters have levels, classes, skills, feats, and hit points. Combat, crafting, and persuasion resolve the way they would at the table — your Diplomacy skill matters as much as your attack bonus. If you've ever rolled a d20, you already know how this works.

SIX CHARACTERS. SIX CLASSES. SWITCH BETWEEN THEM.

Everyone can do the basics. What separates them is what they're great at:

Duke Thomas Aturna — Ferrier & Horse Trainer. Begins with a war-trained horse that fights alongside him. Mobility and mounted strength from the first hour.

Duchess Lena Aturna — Bookkeeper & Shopkeeper. Any enterprise she turns her attention to earns more. Turn the valley's wealth into a weapon.

Maxine "Max" — Blacksmith. Tools, weapons, and the research that pushes your technology forward.

Kyle — Farmer. Lays out and works the fields, and raises the yields of every village that'll take the help.

Steven — Carpenter & Builder. Raises structures and researches the architecture that makes bigger ones possible.

Darlene — Hunter. Trapping, hunting, fishing — and teaching those trades to villages so they can feed themselves.

Three married couples, two lifelong friendships, one wrecked valley. Playing alone, you're never locked to one of them: walk up to any companion, talk to them, and you're now playing as them. Need a wall raised? Become Steven. Need the fields laid out before winter? Become Kyle. The valley needs all six, and you can be each of them when it counts.

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER

Bring friends into the valley online. Six classes that each excel at something different were made to be played together — one player raises the walls while another works the fields, one negotiates with a village while another rides out to clear the road.

THE ONLY WAY TO LOSE

There is no correct valley. Build a place where everything is shared and nothing is owned. Build a market where enough coin buys absolutely anything. There are no wrong answers — and no final victory screen. The game is open-ended: the valley you build, and the people who choose to stay in it.

But the threats aren't only swords. Bandits, criminal enterprise, and the powers to the east and west work on your people's confidence — and when they've had enough, they leave. Every villager who walks out the gate is ground lost. When the last one packs up and goes, the game is over. Hold even one, and you're still in the fight.

THE STORY BEHIND THE GAME

Our founder started writing a novel called A Thousand Coins in 2001, deployed aboard the USS Philippine Sea out of Jacksonville. Military service and family commitments kept getting in the way of publishing it, but he never put it down. Deepwood Valley is that world, finally built.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Deepwood Valley uses a generative AI language model to power conversations with the
characters who live in the valley. The model runs entirely on your own computer — no
account is required, and nothing you type is sent to us or to any third party.

Every line of AI-generated dialogue passes through a deterministic content filter
before it is displayed. This filter is compiled into the game, runs on all generated
speech without exception, and cannot be turned off by the player or by mods.

Character personalities, story, world design, and all art and audio are authored by
our team.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The valley is crime ridden and there is the option of the player turning the valley into a haven for criminals. Due to that, multiple scenarios displaying illegal activities conducted by adults ONLY, will be displayed.
