Why Early Access?

“Roomy is being built around customization, creativity, and giving players as much freedom as possible when creating rooms, scenes, avatars, and experiences. Because there are so many different ways people may use Roomy, player feedback is extremely important.

Early Access allows us to put Roomy into players’ hands while it is still growing, see how people actually use its systems, and improve features based on real feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roomy will remain in Early Access until the major planned systems are complete, existing features are stable, and we feel the overall experience is ready for a full release. We intend for Roomy to be in early access stage for one to two years.

Because Roomy is designed as an expandable platform with support for additional rooms, objects, avatars, mods, DLC, interactions, and other content, development will continue even after the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand and refine nearly every part of Roomy.

This includes additional room templates, furniture and objects, improved building and customization tools, more interactions and animations, improved NPC behavior, performance improvements, and additional quality-of-life features.

Many of Roomy’s systems are also designed to be data-driven so that new rooms, objects, interactions, animations, textures, sounds, avatars, and other content can be added through mods and downloadable content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Roomy already includes the core systems for creating and using customizable 3D rooms.

Players can build and customize rooms using furniture and objects, import and use supported avatars, customize materials and textures, control lighting and environmental settings, use multiple camera modes, take screenshots, create and use interactions, pose mannequins, and save multiple customized rooms.

Roomy also includes dynamic time and weather systems, environmental audio, avatar animations and expressions, microphone lip sync and optional face tracking support, NPC behavior, object interactions, custom camera positions, room templates, mod support, and several minigames.

Many of these systems are still being expanded or refined during Early Access, and some features, interfaces, compatibility options, and content may change as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Roomy will continue to be free to play.

The Plus Edition price may increase but changes will reflect the amount of content and functionality available at that stage of development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a major role in Roomy’s development.

We want players to tell us what works, what feels confusing, what needs improvement, and what they would like to see added. Feedback on building tools, avatars, interactions, cameras, room creation, NPC behavior, modding, performance, accessibility, minigames, and other systems will help shape future updates.

Because Roomy is designed to support user-created content, we are also especially interested in feedback from mod creators and players experimenting with custom rooms, objects, avatars, animations, interactions, textures, and other content.

Feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and community creations will help guide Roomy as it develops toward its full release.”
