What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Orbtrix has been designed and built from the ground up as a broad, systems-heavy roguelite, and as a solo developer I have more ideas for content and mechanics than I can implement on my own timeline. Early Access lets me open development up to player feedback early, so the community can help validate and steer the game's direction - balance, build variety, new content priorities - before the full release is locked in.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 18 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release will build significantly on the EA foundation:

A polished, cohesive visual style across the whole game (currently the art direction is still coming together)
Multiplayer support, including both co-op and PvP modes
Additional game modes beyond the core run-based loop
A deeper, more flexible build-crafting system with a wider variety of viable builds
New abilities, elemental types, and enemy affixes
More varied run content and events
Replacing placeholder AI-generated content with content made by human artists/designers”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Orbtrix is a roguelite with theoretically endless runs shaped by randomized in-run events. Players can build and experiment with different combinations of powers. Currently available:

~117 perks
68 shop items
5 dash types
19 enemy affixes
5 bosses
Leaderboards
Meta-progression between runs”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. I plan to raise the price modestly when the game leaves Early Access, to reflect the additional content, modes, and polish added during development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is central to this process - I'm relying on players to help with balance testing and to suggest ideas for new content and mechanics. I'll be actively monitoring feedback channels (Steam discussions, Discord, etc.) and adjusting development priorities based on what the community tells me.”

About This Game

Orbtrix is a top-down survival roguelite. You're a ball on a floating island in space, fighting off endless waves of enemies with a mix of skills - a melee swing, a ranged barrage, a ground-pound smash, and more - plus elemental damage, or just by ramming them off the edge of the arena.

Level up mid-run to grab perks and build out your kit. Every few minutes a shop opens between waves so you can spend what you've earned before the field fills back up.

Pick one element for the run. Ice can end a fight outright on the right hit. Fire doesn't kill or push the enemy it triggers on, but damages whatever's standing nearby. Lightning jumps from enemy to enemy.

Boss fights are scheduled at set points in the run and interrupt the usual waves with a one-off fight of their own.

No ending - just a run that keeps escalating, and a leaderboard tracking how long you lasted.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI tools were used during the development of the game to create and assist with certain pieces of content.

AI was used to generate some visual elements, including individual icons, as well as some sound effects. Some generated assets were further edited and adapted for use in the game.

AI was also used as an assisting tool for creating text content and localizing the game into other languages.
