What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are two developers. One of us lives in NYC and the other lives in Sydney Australia. We met over a decade ago gaming together, and wanted to pursue the ambition of creating a game that focused on storytelling, world building, and being innovative within a genre.

We are doing early access so we can give players Campaign(s) to start with, as we progressively scale the world and systems to create a full release that coordinates a world of campaigns, featuring an eventual Arcade and Co-Op mode that brings together the Towers, Items, and Questlines from all campaigns.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect this game to be in Early Access for 1-2 years. We have spent most of our time defining the gameplay systems that will fuel the core gameplay and experience, but want to make sure we're dedicating the proper time to the development and continuity of a growing world from a story and thematic perspective. While development will be faster with the initial release of the Ashen campaign, we do want to be conservative on how long it would take to develop 5 more campaigns.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will feature a full set of campaigns, scaling difficulty for replayability, and an arcade mode that will allow for different towers, powers, quest lines, random encounters, and trinkets to be obtained in all new ways for new combinations and experiences. Whether it is on full release or in EA, we do also want to explore a Co-Op mode within the campaign experience as that is the primary focus of the game is to play through the world and progression of different storylines... and what wouldn't make that better than being able to do that with a friend!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We’re launching in Early Access to develop Rise of the Fenarii alongside its players, using feedback to refine balance, improve the experience, and help shape future campaigns.

Early Access will launch with a finished campaign, spanning three acts. It features over 30+ tower forms and recruits, 50+ trinkets, and 30+ consumables, and 60+ unique powers that feed into new builds every play. Explore six branching storylines and over 30 story and random encounters combined, with 32+ unique zones, each with their own enemies, elites. With fun and unique boss battles that will make every play through feel like a new one.

During Early Access, we plan to release the Torpun campaign while continuing to refine the game. Our full-release plans include co-op mode, giving players another way to experience the journey together.

Beyond full release, we plan to develop the remaining four campaigns as expansions. These planned campaign expansions will be included at no additional cost for players who purchase Rise of the Fenarii during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, we will be sticking to the same price into release. As a team of two; we won't need anymore than what we're asking :)”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We do all of our community management and engagement through our discord, where we routinely post updates on the progression of our game, including patch notes and active discussion around balancing and bug fixing to help bring all of our supporters along for the journey ahead with Rise of the Fenarii”

About This Game

In this Tower Defense, you're playing as an Elder on his journey to perform the Haustic Seal.

Play in one of six Campaigns that explore the regions of Vorpus, including: Pyrfall, Torpun, Gorvell, Dunarra, Keinvood, and Secarra.

With each featuring three-act campaigns where you draft towers and powers in the March to strengthen your army; creating new and dynamic builds each and every play.

Face unique boss battles across all three acts.

In the first available campaign, the Pyrfall, encounter over 100+ unique lesser enemies, 32+ elite enemies, and 15 unique bosses that feature their own mechanics and rewards.

Travel from the bone-strewn Boneyards to the deep forests where you find the Hushhives. Study each battlefield and the enemies that comes with them and position your towers to make the most of their strengths.

  • 32 distinct subzones across eight zones in the Pyrfall Campaign

  • 100+ battlefield layouts

Along the way, discover random encounters and branching storylines, with your choices and their outcomes mapped in the Lorebook. Each run is a chance to follow unexplored branches, uncover new rewards, and learn more about the world in which the Haust exists.

Finding your new build is fun, but sometimes finding a new friend along the way is even better!

Early Access will launch with the finished Pyrfall campaign, spanning three acts. We plan to release the Torpun campaign during Early Access and add co-op mode before release.

After release, we plan to develop the remaining four campaigns as expansions. These planned campaign expansions will be included at no additional cost for Early Access purchasers.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We’re two developers living on opposite sides of the world, who have been A LOT of sleepless nights building the game and world we wanted to see made possible.

Without AI, this game would not have been possible. Despite that, we know that the world would be portrayed much better with a dedicated team of designers and artists behind it. We've made it a massive priority ours to create all of our visual design with as much human touch as we can to stay true to how we envision the world.

The story, characters, worldbuilding, etc. Are all written by uS. A *very* generous friend is creating the soundtrack. We know everyone has different views on AI generated content and we are committed to being VERY clear of the when and where of it's used. In the long-term, we hope to grow to a point where we rely on AI less, and rely on people more for further development of Vorpus.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

I'd call it 'fantasy gore' not intense close-ups or prolonged scenes intended to be gore-y. There are moments where limbs are removed for example; however, it's not in violent detail or meant to be the exaggeration or focus of scenes.
