What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The full story of Witch's Convenience Store spans a prologue, four chapters, and a finale. Chapter 1 (Wenjiu's story) is fully polished, and we want to put this nighttime experience into players' hands as early as possible, then bring community feedback on pacing, exploration density, and journal guidance into the finishing work on chapters 2–4. We are committed to free chapter updates until the full version and its winter-solstice finale ship.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to be in Early Access for roughly 6–12 months. The exact duration depends on the production progress of chapters 2–4 and the finale. We plan to update on a 4–6 week cadence, with the goal of shipping the full version — including all chapters and the finale — within 2027. If our schedule changes, we will let players know through dev logs.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the complete prologue and Chapter 1 (\~1.5–2 hours), with the visual novel, free exploration, journal collection, store-cat interactions, and multiple endings all functional.
The full version expands to prologue + four chapters + finale (\~7.5 hours): complete chapters for three more guests — Mo (the letter), Chacha (the barley tea), and Zhi (the scarf) — plus more CGs and stickers, the moonlit-petal collection arc, and the winter solstice full-moon finale. All future chapters are free updates for owners.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is a complete, finishable experience: the full prologue and Chapter 1 story, free-exploration hotspots, the journal collection (stickers / CGs / ending gallery), the three-choice cat interactions, and both "release" and "regret" endings are all implemented. All Chapter 1 features listed in the "About This Game" section are already in the game. Guests of later chapters already appear in the story; their dedicated chapters unlock with updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price will be lower than the final price (roughly 60–70% of it). We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new chapters, reaching the final price at full release. Players who buy during Early Access get all future chapters at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We post regular dev logs and chapter progress on the Steam forums and our official Xiaohongshu/Bilibili accounts, and collect feedback on story pacing, exploration density, and collection guidance. Every piece of feedback goes into our update backlog. During Early Access we aim for a content or quality update every 4–6 weeks.”

About This Game

No. 13 Hewan Street, on the edge of the old town, there's a 24-hour convenience store.

Three months after her grandfather passed away behind this counter, Lin Wan takes over the night shift.

At 2 AM, the doorbell rings half a tone flat —

and she sees her first "guest."

What is this store?

This little store is a ferry stop between worlds. Things left undone and words left unsaid harden into regrets, clinging to unfinished objects — a letter, a cup of tea, a scarf — and walk in as spirits between 2 and 4 AM.

Her grandmother's journal, "The Store Rules," was kept for forty-one years. The first page says only:

"Stand behind the register, and the store is yours."[/i]

Four house rules:

Never ask where a guest comes from

Never rush anyone to check out

Serve the warm things first

Say a proper goodbye to every guest

Gameplay: more than reading

A first-person visual novel[/b]: make choices at key moments — how you respond shapes how each guest's farewell unfolds

Free exploration[/b]: between story beats, investigate glowing spots around the store — the third shelf, the lost-and-found drawer, the oden pot — to find items, clues, and fragments of the store's 41 years

Serve something warm[/b]: read each guest's lingering regret, pick the right "unfinished thing" from the shelf, heat it up, and hand it over. A simple gesture that carries real weight

Journal collection[/b]: record your guests in grandma's journal — stickers, CGs, and an ending gallery that light up page by page

Wugeng the store cat[/b]: feed him, brush him, or play with a paper ball; his brutally honest review board by the door knows everything

Multiple endings: every chapter ends in "release" or "regret." Gather four moonlit petals to reach the winter solstice full moon

Tonight's guests

Wenjiu— a vampire bound to this store by a three-hundred-year promise. Every night, heat her a cup of tomato juice. Scalding hot.

Mo— a letter rewritten seven times and never sent. She has waited eighty-three years for someone who won't come back.

Chacha— a cup of barley tea that went cold waiting. The bell only ever half-rings for her.

Zhi — an unfinished scarf. She buys one ball of yarn every night; by dawn, her knitting comes undone again.

Content

Full version: prologue + four chapters + finale, ~7.5 hours, 100k+ words.

The style

A watercolor convenience store at night, journals, stickers, and washi tape.

A cozy soundtrack that follows day and night, with the oden pot bubbling underneath.

Some goodbyes need a hot cup of tomato juice.
