About This Demo

Like Module 1? The full game has 14 modules and comes out Nov 12. Wishlist TsundereSQL from the link at the top of this page.

All of Module 1, start to boss.

TsundereSQL is an anime visual novel built around a full SQL course. This demo is its first module. You write real queries against a small practice database for a crypto exchange, Tsumugi marks them, and each answer is checked on hidden test data as well as the sample you can see.

What's in the demo

  • All 18 questions of Module 1, ending in its boss.
  • Hints that go from a nudge to the answer, and a short lesson for every question.
  • Errors explained in plain English, next to the database's own message.
  • A short animated example of the logical order SQL clauses are evaluated in (FROM, then WHERE, then SELECT).
  • Tsumugi's texts on a phone. A new one arrives at questions 2, 5 and 10.
  • One free outfit pull.
  • 24 optional SQL drills, which you can open at any time.

Module 1, start to boss

The first five questions are guided: you fill in the missing part of a query before you get an empty editor. After that you sort and page with ORDER BY and LIMIT, label rows with CASE, and work with dates, text and missing values. The last question is the boss, The Compliance Blotter, which needs all of it in one query.

Your first correct answer unlocks a short scene with Tsumugi, and the boss has its own scene before and after.

One free outfit pull

After question 3, Tsumugi gives you one free pull: a gashapon crank, a manga cut-in and a holo card. In the demo it is always the same outfit, her Stage Idol costume. You can wear it for the rest of the demo or keep the uniform.

In the full game, solved problems earn gems, and gems buy outfit pulls. There is nothing to buy with real money.

After the demo

The full game has 224 problems across 14 modules, from your first SELECT to joins, window functions, CTEs and messy, realistic practice data. Tsumugi, Aimi and Nora each have their own story, earned by solving problems. The demo home has a row of cards on what else is in it, including the Incident Room, where you work out why a report is wrong.

Good to know

  • No account or internet connection is needed to play. Your progress is saved on your computer.
  • The demo sends anonymous counts of how far players get, with no ID and never your queries. They are on by default, and one click turns them off.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

TsundereSQL Demo uses generative AI that was applied during development to assist with character art, backgrounds, store artwork, portions of fixed dialogue and portions of shipped code. All shipped material is developer-directed, reviewed and edited. The demo does not generate any content during gameplay and does not connect to an AI service.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

TsundereSQL Demo is the first module of an SQL course: 18 questions ending in a boss, two optional bonus questions, a practice drills room and short scenes with one instructor, Tsumugi (an adult character in a school-style uniform). She sends a few friendly, non-romantic texts with everyday photos. The demo has one free cosmetic outfit pull with a fixed result (a stage idol costume) and no purchase or paid currency. It contains no romance route, no suggestive artwork and no nudity or sexual content. It shares code with the full game, so it contains unused text such as wardrobe item names (including swimwear and costume outfits) and labels mentioning wine and sake; none of these are shown in the demo and their images are not included.
