What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I started developing this game on my own because I wanted to create a free and open VR world where characters that behave like real people feel as if they are truly standing right in front of you, and where you can build and shape the world yourself.

As development has progressed, I have realized that in order to make this world more engaging, I need to see how players actually use and interact with it.

“There’s another way to use this.”
“I’d like to play like this.”
“This part feels inconvenient.”

I want to continue refining the game based on feedback like this.

My goal is to create a world with countless ways to play, one that can continue expanding through sandbox features and mods. Ultimately, I hope it can become a place VR players will want to keep coming back to.

If the possibilities of this world excite you, I would love to hear what you think after playing.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Early Access to last around one to several years. There is currently no fixed date for the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Planned improvements include more natural and refined character behavior, expanded sandbox features, improved physics interactions, and other additions and improvements throughout development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The sandbox currently includes basic furniture placement and removal, a system for saving your creations, and basic electrical control systems.

Character customization includes detailed slider-based adjustments, support for external mods, and an SDK designed to help users create their own content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase in two stages: once the core foundation of the sandbox systems and character behavior is sufficiently developed, and again when the game reaches full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Development will primarily be guided by feedback from the Steam Discussions and the YouTube community.

Players are welcome to share ideas for new features or content, as well as feedback about anything that feels inconvenient or difficult to use.

While I cannot promise that every requested feature will be implemented, I will continue developing the game as much as I can and do my best to create a place that players will want to spend time in.”

About This Game

Overview

Built around the concept of “giving virtual worlds a sense of physical presence and mass,” ViRtual Mass Human uses Unreal Engine 5 to bring weight, touch, character presence, and subtle reactions to life.

Build your own environments by freely placing walls, furniture, and objects, then combine them with your preferred voices, conversational AI, and mods to create the characters and situations you want.

Use your imagination to build a world of your own.

Supports VRM and MetaHuman characters.

You Choose the Voice, the Story, the Mind, and How You Use It

Rather than locking the experience into a single predefined story, ViRtual Mass Human is designed around giving you control over your characters’ voices, stories, and minds, allowing you to shape your relationship with them however you want.

You can route audio playing on your PC into characters, or talk with locally running conversational AI and spend time with them inside your virtual world.

The distribution method for local conversational AI is still under consideration. Because local AI requires significant GPU resources, it is intended for higher-end PCs, with an RTX 4070 or better recommended.

Using external conversational AI services or PC audio input may require users to separately install, configure, or provide third-party software and services.

A Character System Built from the Ground Up for ViRtual Mass Human

Characters reproduce subtle human behaviors such as eye movement, breathing, and shifts in balance.

These reactions are not simply predefined animations being played back. They change dynamically depending on factors such as the position of the player’s hands, the direction of their head, and the surrounding situation, making each interaction slightly different.

Touch a character with your fingers, and their skin can softly deform in response.

To pursue a stronger sense of realism, the system was designed through observation and analysis of real human movement and physical phenomena, with the goal of making characters and objects feel as though they truly exist within the world.

A Room You Built — or Your Own Room

Using the mixed reality features of Meta Quest or Virtual Desktop, you can bring characters into your real-world room.

Both options require additional setup and user configuration outside the game.

Or use the sandbox tools to freely place objects and build a virtual environment exactly the way you want it.

Expand the World with Mods

Using the provided SDK, you can create mods for characters, objects, and maps.

Installed or user-created mods can be accessed through the sandbox system and freely placed throughout your world.
