Your PC is still over at the desk, but you are already curled up on the sofa, in bed, or in your favourite chair?

CouchDeck streams your home Windows PC to a phone browser and turns the phone into a keyboard, touchpad, and virtual gamepad. There is no separate mobile app to install—and no need to get back up just to click the mouse twice, meow.

Check the desktop, open a program, press a shortcut, move the mouse, or play for a while with your phone as a gamepad—all from the same page. Choose Pro and you can also pass text and files back and forth without climbing out of bed for one photo. CouchDeck has one simple goal: helping you get a little more comfortable, meow.

One scan, then settle in

Scan the QR code on your PC, or open its connection address directly, and your phone is ready to control Windows. Now get comfy, meow. Your phone browser remembers the PC after the first connection. As long as the PC is on, CouchDeck’s services are healthy, and the address has not changed, simply refresh the same remote-control page next time—no need to walk back to the PC and scan again. You can even connect and enter your password while Windows is still at the sign-in screen.

CouchDeck is a desktop-streaming remote control and virtual gamepad for your home network, with a phone-friendly keyboard, mouse touchpad, WASD and arrow-key sticks, audio streaming, and device management.

CouchDeck offers three address options on your home network to keep connecting flexible and convenient. Home routers normally use DHCP to assign the PC an IP address automatically. That address usually stays the same, but it may change after a router restart, a network change, or a DHCP lease renewal; if it does, use the PC’s current address or scan again.

To save people from having to configure a fixed IP, CouchDeck can also connect by the Windows PC name.

Some phones and home networks additionally support a .local address. PC names and .local may not work through certain routers, VPNs, guest Wi-Fi networks, or device-isolation settings; the PC’s current IP address remains available as the fallback.

Portrait or landscape, with room for both hands

Portrait is convenient for quick use: the picture, keyboard, mouse touchpad, and directional stick all share one page. Landscape is made for focused control: the keyboard or gamepad sits under your left and right hands while the PC picture keeps as much of the centre as possible. The gaps between keys also let you interact with the picture, so your fingers do not have to go around a whole keyboard, meow.

Every section of a standard full-size US keyboard is covered: function keys, letters, numbers and punctuation, editing and arrow keys, and the numeric keypad. The left and right Ctrl, Shift and Alt keys that do the same job are combined into one phone key. It handles not only Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, but three-key combinations such as Ctrl+Shift+S as well.

The touchpad supports clicking, scrolling, and natural dragging. To move a window aside or drag a file into another window, tap once, then press and slide on the second touch. Is a window too small to read? Maximize it with one tap from the remote keyboard’s extra keys, then tap again to restore it. There is also a button to bring all minimized windows back together, saving you some fiddly aiming on a small screen, meow.

Use your familiar phone keyboard—and review long text before sending

Do not want to hunt for every character on a remote-control keyboard? In portrait or landscape, switch to your phone’s own input method, then tap the draft field to start writing. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, voice input, and your familiar suggestions stay in the hands of the phone. Drafts support multiple lines: Enter inserts a newline and never sends by accident. Tap the expand button inside the editor to review the draft across the entire control area. Sending keeps the draft; only Clear removes it.

Choose a joystick—or the complete mouse wheel group

In phone settings, switch the complete WASD / arrow-key joystick group to a complete mouse group with a wheel and X1 / X2 side buttons. Slide the wheel to scroll or press it for a middle click; the two side buttons send standard mouse side-button input.

For games, hold the stick in a direction to keep sending input. For menus or switching windows, you can instead make each push move just one step, returning to the centre before the next step. No need to carefully time how long you hold it, meow.

CouchDeck includes layouts tuned for small screens and tablets. A compact phone is not crushed into a cluttered mess, and tablet controls are not spread so far apart that your hands cannot reach them. In portrait, you can also make the keyboard and touchpad taller independently, giving your fingers more room. Each phone remembers its own sizes, so set them however feels comfortable, meow.

When you do not feel like moving your hand to the touchpad, you can operate directly on the PC picture: a quick double tap is a left click, a long press is a right click, and a tap followed by a hold lets you drag. A single touch does not accidentally click the PC. When you need a closer look, putting a second finger down safely switches to zooming and panning, without sending your two-finger gesture as mouse input. In portrait or landscape, your input lands right where you touch, meow.

Accidentally moved the picture too far while zoomed in? Switch between portrait and landscape to bring the full picture back, without having to find your way manually.

More than one PC screen? Choose one from the sofa

All of these display features are included in both CouchDeck and CouchDeck Pro, meow.

Left a window on another screen? Choose a monitor in your phone settings and save to switch over and carry on. CouchDeck shows the PC’s main display by default. If the selected screen is unplugged and a main display is still available, it switches back automatically and lets you know. When several phones connect to the same PC, they all see the same screen, and the other phones receive a notice when it changes, meow.

Portrait monitors, ultrawide screens, and nearly square displays all keep their original proportions, so windows and text do not look squashed or stretched. You can still zoom and pan with two fingers to inspect a detail. You can also adjust Windows display scaling for the selected physical monitor from your phone, making text and buttons on the PC a little bigger together, meow.

Even without a monitor connected to the PC, you can manually enable a virtual display to give your phone a desktop to see and control. Once you have set it up and your browser remembers the PC, you can reconnect from the same page after a restart, as long as the PC is on, the services are working, and the connection address is available. You do not need to keep a physical monitor attached just for remote control. A virtual display needs compatible Windows, graphics hardware, and drivers, so try it on your own PC before unplugging the physical monitor, meow.

A gamepad layout and feel that fit your hands

Playing together but one controller short? Let a friend scan in with their own phone. Multiple phones are recognised by the PC as separate virtual gamepads, so supported local-multiplayer games can give everyone a controller, meow.

Layouts are stored in the phone browser, so each mobile device can keep its own arrangement.

In landscape, the buttons and sticks sit separately near each hand. You can still operate the streamed PC picture in the middle by touch, and quickly switch to the keyboard whenever you need to type.

The virtual gamepad includes an Xbox layout by default, and the sticks do more than move around: quickly tap a stick twice to press L3 or R3. Hold L2 or R2 and slide up or down to change how far that trigger is pressed for the current touch.

Pro adds a PS layout and a custom layout where you can move and resize gamepad controls. The shoulder buttons, triggers, and two centre function buttons can each be positioned independently, without being tied together. You can also adjust opacity, stick dead zones, stick travel range, and the default strength of each trigger.

Want to ease onto the throttle without going full blast the moment you touch it? Pro also lets you choose progressive sliding separately for L2 and R2: touch starts at zero, sliding up increases the input, sliding down reduces it, and releasing returns it to zero. Prefer an immediate response when you press? Keep the normal button mode and go with what feels right, meow.

Fewer restrictions, more convenience

Getting started with CouchDeck does not require a CouchDeck account—or an account from any other vendor.

Once installed, everyday use does not require Steam to be open for an ownership check, and CouchDeck does not bind itself to a PC hardware ID.

Each Windows PC manages the phones and tablets that have connected to it. The desktop app shows their status and can remove one device without disturbing the others.

Different phones in the household are remembered separately, and access can be removed for exactly the device you choose.

Two-way text and file transfer

Want a file from the PC on your phone, or a batch of photos from your phone back on the PC? There is no need to send your own data on a detour through a social platform, wait through a cloud-drive speed limit, or suddenly get up and hunt for a cable.

CouchDeck can select and send several files at once. Batch together pictures and videos from your photo library, or common files such as archives and documents from the file picker. It can also send plain text that is not saved as a file.

Files shared from the PC can be downloaded to your phone. Files recently sent to the PC through CouchDeck also stay in the phone’s list while they remain in the current receiving folder. You can still download them after changing pages or reopening the browser, without going back to the PC to share them again.

Sending a document to the PC, editing it, and bringing it back to your phone is easy too: keep it in the same location with the same filename, and the phone can download the edited version. The same goes for files shared from the PC; changing a few words does not mean sharing them all over again. To carry on working with something you just received on the PC, tap the folder button on the phone’s file page. It opens the receiving folder on the PC and returns you to the remote-control view, meow.

You do not have to stay on the file page during a transfer. Back in the remote-control view, the file button still shows whether a transfer is running, has finished, or needs attention.

Got some text you want to paste into the PC right away? Send it straight to the PC clipboard without saving it as a file, or bring text from the PC clipboard back to your phone. Screenshots just taken on the PC, copied files, and files just uploaded from your phone can also follow the same path for downloading or pasting, with less hunting through folders, meow.

Just need a file? Choose “Files only” when connecting and start sending files and text without waiting for the PC picture to appear. If the network is struggling, you can also pause video and audio from the file page to leave more bandwidth for your transfer. Resume streaming whenever you want to control the PC again; other phones’ remote-control sessions are not interrupted, meow.

Supported browsers can resume an interrupted large download. There is no rush to switch back when it finishes, either: the picture waits for you to resume it. Take your time, meow.

Away from home? Your PC can still be within reach, meow

Need a document you left at home, or want to check whether a task on your PC has finished? Pro’s experimental away-from-home connection brings remote control, text, and file transfers beyond your home Wi-Fi. You will need to check your home network and, where necessary, configure port forwarding on your router or upstream modem/ONT yourself. This is not a guaranteed, ready-to-use public internet service. An automatic direct-connection setup PDF is included: try the automatic route first, then follow the steps for any network layer that still needs a little help, meow.

Not having a dedicated public IPv4 address does not necessarily mean renting a server. With automatic direct connection enabled, CouchDeck tries router port mapping. When network conditions allow, STUN / NATMap can also help establish a direct connection through your provider’s NAT, from your phone to your home PC. Once connected, video and files go directly to your own devices, not through a CouchDeck relay server, and this direct route does not require purchasing relay traffic, meow.

Once configured, the PC’s connection page shows a separate away-from-home QR code and address, apart from the home IP, PC name, and .local options. Connect your phone once before leaving and keep that page. As long as the PC and services are running and the external address has not changed, reopening or refreshing the page lets you carry on without going home to scan again.

Automatic direct connection is not a master key: your provider’s NAT type, inbound restrictions, and multiple layers of modems and routers all affect the result. You may still need to add a port-forwarding rule as instructed. If the public IP or mapped port changes, the old address may need updating too. It remains experimental and cannot reach through every network, but it gives some connections that seemed to require a paid relay a free direct route worth trying, meow.

Prefer your own fixed domain and HTTPS entry point? You can host or choose a public HTTPS forwarding service. CouchDeck does not bind you to or recommend a provider; third-party services may charge separately. Media can attempt a direct WebRTC connection, or you can explicitly choose to send the stream through your forwarding service. The ordinary automatic direct-connection entry uses HTTP, which is not an HTTPS-encrypted channel. Choose what suits your network and intended use.

If the connection away from home is only good enough for files, there is no need to keep the picture running. Choose “Files only,” or pause video and audio for this phone from the file page, and get the important things transferred first. Resume remote control when you are ready—no need to compete with your own bandwidth, meow.

Quickly open CMD or PowerShell from your phone

Pro’s exclusive quick terminal feature lets you open CMD or PowerShell on the PC with one tap from your phone, without hunting through menus on a tiny streamed desktop, meow.

The same CouchDeck keyboard can send individual keys and combinations such as Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Z straight to the terminal, or let you prepare a complete command or multi-line block before running it once. Commands stay in the same terminal session, so the working directory and environment state do not reset after every submission.

When terminal mode opens, CouchDeck locks the streamed view to the terminal and enlarges its text for comfortable reading. Normal stream controls return when you leave. The feature is off by default; after you enable it in the phone settings, CMD and PowerShell appear in Nav. Availability is still decided by the CouchDeck edition installed on the PC, meow.

A useful tool does not have to look dated or dull

Pro includes four extra themes—Sakura Paws, OLED Black, Paper & Ink, and Deep Observation—with animated details and little effects you can actually poke.

Compatibility and languages

CouchDeck is designed for x64 Windows 10 and Windows 11. We recommend Windows 10 version 1809 or later as your starting point. LTSC 2019, Windows 10 22H2, and representative Windows 11 systems in Chinese and English have been tested in separate environments, meow.

Desktop streaming, keyboard and mouse input, virtual gamepads, and file transfers have also been tested on the earlier Windows 10 versions 1607, 1703, 1709, and 1803, so you are welcome to try them. However, older systems and drivers can still limit individual features, and full functionality is not guaranteed. For example, virtual displays are unavailable on 1607, 1703, and 1709. Versions earlier than Windows 10 1607 are not currently supported; please upgrade before using CouchDeck, meow.

Windows 11 support covers standard x64 production releases from 21H2 through 25H2; 26H1 still needs further verification. ARM editions, preview builds, and heavily stripped-down systems are outside the scope of full support. Graphics hardware, drivers, and system policies may also affect individual features. Supporting Windows 11 does not mean that every patch release and every hardware combination has been fully tested.

The interface supports ten languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, German, French, and Brazilian Portuguese. The mobile side supports Safari and mainstream Android browsers.

A few useful details

• CouchDeck is made for x64 Windows 10/11 PCs and modern iOS and Android phone browsers; see the compatibility section above for supported versions and limitations.
  
  
• CouchDeck is intended for home entertainment and light office use on private networks where connected devices are trusted to access one another. It is not intended for high-security enterprise environments or remote technical-support operators.
  
  
• When Windows is waiting at the password screen after startup or sign-out, a phone browser that already remembers this PC can still connect and use CouchDeck’s keyboard and mouse to sign in. Before sign-in, only video, audio, and input are available; after sign-in, the full CouchDeck starts quietly in the system tray and takes over.
  
  
• Steam’s controller test fully recognises the CouchDeck virtual gamepad, including buttons, sticks, and triggers. In most games with Xbox controller support, it behaves like a physical gamepad.
  
  
• CouchDeck does not require another account to verify your purchase. There are no subscriptions, feature microtransactions, or forced-update system: one purchase gives you continued use of the full feature set for that edition.
