What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Quiet Sky is built around a deep world simulation combined with locally generated narrative and report content. The core game is playable, but the range of possible interventions and emergent histories makes feedback from many different campaigns especially valuable. Early Access will help us improve simulation balance, narrative consistency, usability, performance, and reliability while developing the game’s broader scope alongside players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Quiet Sky to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months. This estimate may change depending on player feedback, technical development, and the level of polish required for the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to offer greater simulation depth and variety, a broader range of interventions and consequences, improved long-term narrative continuity, clearer onboarding, expanded accessibility and settings, stronger performance across supported hardware, and additional interface and presentation polish. We also plan to continue improving the reliability and consistency of the bundled local AI systems.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core single-player campaign is playable across multiple historical starting eras. Players can observe a simulated Earth, study societies, establish surface presences, conduct surveys, collect and synthesize matter, construct agents, direct interventions, advance time, and review generated observation reports and illustrations. Campaigns are saved locally, and the Steam edition includes local models for gameplay generation. The Early Access version may contain bugs, balance issues, uneven or repetitive generated narratives, longer generation times on some hardware, unfinished interface areas, and save-format changes during development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price reflects the game’s current scope and state of development. We currently expect the price to increase when Quiet Sky leaves Early Access as its content, features, and overall level of polish expand. Any pricing changes will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam Discussions, reviews, bug reports, and direct player feedback to guide development. We are especially interested in feedback about simulation behavior, narrative consistency, intervention balance, onboarding, interface clarity, performance, hardware compatibility, and long-running campaigns. Development updates and change notes will explain what is being tested and how community feedback has influenced our priorities.”

About This Game

Quiet Sky

What if the gods of history were never gods at all? What if they were you?

You are an intelligence so advanced that, to the beings below, the difference may be meaningless.

From high above a living Earth, observe species emerge, populations migrate, cultures take shape, and civilizations rise or vanish across deep time. Search for intelligence wherever it appears—not only in humanity, and not only in forms humanity would recognize.

Then decide what kind of presence you will become.

Study from a distance. Protect a vulnerable population. Accelerate a discovery. Prevent a catastrophe. Manipulate a society. Leave behind an object that should not exist. Speak from the sky—or remain silent for ten thousand years.

You have no ordained mission to save humanity. You do not have to advance technology, preserve history, or remain hidden. Choose your own purpose and pursue it through a world whose inhabitants possess purposes of their own.

Your interventions are real, but their meaning is not yours to control.

A probe glimpsed by an ancient settlement may become a story of a descending star. Knowledge shared with one generation may survive as sacred tradition. A disaster narrowly prevented may be remembered as divine mercy—or as evidence of an unseen enemy. Equipment abandoned on the surface may wait beneath the earth until another civilization digs it up thousands of years later.

The people and societies of Earth interpret you through the evidence you leave behind. Different populations may worship you, fear you, investigate you, resist you, or disagree over whether you exist at all. Even undeniable contact answers only one question. It does not tell them what you are, what you want, or whether you have any right to interfere.

Every action joins the history of the world. Every absence does too.

A God Game Across Deep Time

Quiet Sky is a narrative grand strategy game about possessing godlike power without possessing complete control.

Survey the planet and build an understanding of its environments, life, populations, and societies. Deploy ship agents, conduct investigations, recover living beings and material evidence, and intervene through technology that appears miraculous only to those who cannot understand it.

Then advance time.

Years, generations, or centuries may pass. Environments transform. Institutions reinterpret the past. Protected populations become powers in their own right. Civilizations inherit consequences whose original causes have been forgotten. When you look again, the world may have turned your actions into mythology.

The reward is not simply seeing history change. It is recognizing your own hand within what history became.

Oh. That was me.

Earth Is More Than Humanity

Humanity is one part of Earth—not its predetermined protagonist.

Intelligence may emerge in unfamiliar bodies, environments, and forms of social organization. Biological species, intelligence, sentience, civilization, and personhood are not the same thing, and the game will not always decide those questions for you.

Investigate uncertain evidence. Determine which beings you consider worthy of recognition. Form relationships that may endure for millennia. Humanity may one day discover that it was never alone—or that the power it called divine had been speaking to someone else all along.

What matters is not whether a population resembles us. What matters is what it becomes, what it understands, and how you choose to treat it.

Power Leaves Evidence

Intervention is not governed by a simple morality or stealth meter.

Your actions consume energy, matter, attention, and time. They can fail, produce unintended effects, or create consequences far beyond their original purpose. Unusual activity leaves evidence, but evidence does not produce a single universal response.

One culture may preserve an encounter as revelation. Another may classify it as a natural anomaly. A government may conceal it. A religion may divide over it. Scientists may spend generations trying to explain it. A population that knows you exist may still misunderstand your motives—or understand them well enough to oppose you.

Secrecy is a choice. Revelation is a choice. Neither is the end of the relationship.

Your Purpose Is Your Own

Become a guardian, experimenter, teacher, manipulator, destroyer, witness—or something the inhabitants of Earth have no name for.

Protect life without asking for gratitude. Guide one civilization while restraining another. Attempt to cultivate intelligence. Encourage independence from your influence. Create a world that worships you, a world that fears you, or a world that never knows how profoundly you altered its history.

Quiet Sky does not ask whether you can rule the world.

It asks what the world becomes after encountering you.

Features

  • Play a science-fiction God game grounded in advanced technology rather than literal divinity.

  • Observe a living Earth evolving across vast spans of geological and historical time.

  • Begin your observation during one of seven pivotal eras.

  • Survey regions to uncover environments, resources, life, populations, and activity.

  • Search for intelligence in human and potentially unfamiliar forms.

  • Investigate uncertain evidence without receiving perfect or omniscient information.

  • Influence discoveries, societies, institutions, crises, and environments without directly ruling them.

  • Deploy agents and conduct operations from a distant observation vessel.

  • Balance energy, matter, time, and the lasting consequences of intervention.

  • Allow years or centuries to pass and discover how the world changed in your absence.

  • Watch interventions become myths, miracles, mysteries, warnings, and contested history.

  • Encounter populations that interpret the same evidence in radically different ways.

  • Choose whether to conceal yourself, reveal yourself, communicate, manipulate, protect, or remain silent.

  • Build a persistent timeline shaped by what you discovered, what you changed, and whom you chose to recognize.

You do not rule the world.

You become part of what it believes.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Quiet Sky uses generative AI during gameplay to simulate evolving societies and create narrative observation reports, summaries, Companion responses, and optional report illustrations based on the current simulation and the player’s decisions. The Steam desktop edition runs the included generative models locally on the player’s computer. Generated results vary between campaigns.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Quiet Sky is a single-player narrative strategy game that may contain non-graphic depictions and descriptions of violence. Depending on player decisions, generated reports may reference weapons, warfare, explosions, attacks, injuries, death, killing, criminal acts, catastrophes, and populations in distress. Violence is presented through narrative text and occasional report illustrations, with generated images directed to avoid gore and graphic injury.
