What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“WaveSurvivor is being developed around replayability, co-op teamwork, character roles, progression, and combat balance. Early Access will allow me to develop these systems alongside the community, gather feedback from real matches, improve balance and gameplay feel, and expand the game based on how players actually experience it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently expect WaveSurvivor to remain in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months. This may change depending on development progress, community feedback, and the scope of features added during Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to expand the game throughout Early Access with more levels, stages, enemies, and additional gameplay content. I may also introduce new playable roles as development continues. The full version is planned to offer a larger and more varied experience, with further improvements to balance, progression, replayability, and overall polish based on player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Right now the main gameplay loop is working. You can play solo or online with friends, choose between DPS, Tank and Healer, fight waves of enemies, level up through shared XP and choose upgrade cards during the run. The first stage, enemy encounters and boss fights are already playable. I am still working on adding more stages, enemies, content, balancing and polish. You can check the About This Game section for more details about the gameplay.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan for the game to be free during Early Access. After Early Access, I plan to introduce a price for the full release. The final price will be determined closer to release based on the game's overall scope, amount of content, depth, quality, and level of polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to use community feedback throughout Early Access to help identify bugs, balance issues, repetitive gameplay, difficulty problems, and areas that could be improved. Player feedback on how the game feels during real matches will help me refine gameplay, progression, enemies, roles, and the overall experience as development continues.”

About This Game

WaveSurvivor is a 1–3 player co-op sci-fi FPS built around teamwork, character roles, escalating enemies, and roguelite-style progression. Play alone or with friends as a DPS, Tank, or Healer, combine your strengths, build your character throughout each run, and survive increasingly dangerous encounters.

STORY AND ENDLESS MODES

Story Mode is the main WaveSurvivor experience. Progress through the world, discover what happened to it, learn why the enemy exists, and uncover the events that led to the conflict you are fighting through.

Endless Mode focuses on the combat and progression systems, allowing you to keep fighting increasingly powerful enemies and push your team and builds as far as possible.

CHOOSE YOUR ROLE

Each player chooses one of three distinct roles designed to contribute to the team in a different way.

DPS focuses on dealing high amounts of damage while staying mobile and repositioning during fights. His arsenal includes an assault rifle, an explosive missile, a rapid dash, and an ultimate that rains gunfire over an area.

Tank controls the battlefield and helps keep pressure away from his teammates. Armed with a shotgun and hammer, he can deal area damage, create powerful shockwaves, draw groups of enemies toward specific locations, and pull enemies together with his ultimate.

Healer focuses on keeping the team alive and supporting teammates throughout each encounter. Managing healing, positioning, and the condition of the team becomes increasingly important as enemies grow stronger.

Each role can be played independently, but working together and understanding the strengths of your teammates can make the difference when encounters become more difficult.

BUILD YOUR CHARACTER

The team earns experience through combat using a shared XP bar. When the team levels up, each player receives their own upgrade choices.

Upgrades come in different rarities, from Common to Legendary. Many upgrades improve your core stats and strengthen your build, while rarer upgrades can have a much larger impact on how your character plays.

Legendary upgrades can introduce powerful effects and modifications that change how parts of your build or abilities behave, allowing different runs to develop in very different ways.

A strong build helps, but upgrades are not intended to decide the run on their own. Aim, movement, positioning, ability usage, decision-making, and teamwork are designed to remain important regardless of the cards you receive.

FACE DIFFERENT ENEMY THREATS

Enemies are designed around different behaviors rather than simply being larger versions of the same opponent.

Standard enemies apply consistent pressure and advance toward their targets. Faster enemies use their speed to pressure and flank players, while heavier enemies can close distance with powerful lunging attacks.

As you progress, enemies become stronger and encounters become more demanding, forcing you to improve your build while also adapting how you fight.

FIGHT, ADAPT, SURVIVE

WaveSurvivor is built around the combination of FPS combat, cooperative roles, abilities, evolving builds, and increasingly dangerous encounters. Whether you are protecting your team, dealing damage, keeping everyone alive, or experimenting with a new set of upgrades, every player has a job to do.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I use generative AI for some of the game’s visual assets, mainly things like ability icons, and for some of the promotional images on the Steam store page. I review and choose what actually gets used in the game. Nothing is generated by AI while the game is running.
