Clock in for the night shift. One rope, one sodium-lit city, and a grappling hook that goes exactly where you aim it. Winch through the swing, let go at the right moment. How far you get is the only pay there is.

About This Game

THE CITY WORKS NIGHTS. SO DO YOU.

Swing Shift is a grappling-hook game about momentum you build yourself. Runs are short and end in one number: how far you got.

Your hook is a projectile. It goes exactly where you aim it, bites whatever it runs into, and catches nothing at all if you aim badly, it never picks a target for you, and there is no one to blame. While you hang on, the rope winches in, and shortening a swinging rope speeds it up, the same way it does on a playground. Release pays out by how much of the swing you actually committed to: let go early and you get almost nothing, carry the swing and you launch.

Swinging backwards is not a bug. It is what happens when you let go at the wrong time.

CONTROLS

Mouse aims and fires. Up and Down work the winch. Left and Right pump the swing.

The winch is where speed comes from. Everything else is setup.

WHAT'S IN IT

  • Winch in mid-swing and the arc speeds up; the whole game is deciding when to let go

  • Steam leaderboards: a global board that rotates every three days, so the top is never permanently taken, and an all-time board for you and your friends

  • A grappling hook that goes where you aim; every miss is yours

  • An aim line that shows your firing angle and how far the rope will reach — it tells you the truth, it does not aim for you

  • Five city districts that cycle as you travel

  • 14 goals earned by playing well, each one a Steam achievement, unlocking cosmetic characters and rope styles

  • A soundtrack that composes itself as you play and builds with your speed. It never repeats.

  • A sodium-lit city at 320×180 — light pollution, rooftops, and a low warm moon sitting in the haze

WHAT IT ISN'T

No levels. No story. No upgrades — nothing you unlock makes you faster.

You, a rope, a city, and a number you would like to be bigger.
