About This Game

ONE SKEWER. INFINITE BAD DECISIONS.

Skewered Up! is a roguelike deckbuilder Cooking game where you try to stack ingredients in the right order and then cook to satisfy the target points of your customers.

Every few seconds the machine hands you three ingredients. You get to keep one. You slide it onto the skewer.

Pepper that scores off its neighbours. Butter that drips onto whatever sits below it. An Onion that only pays out per every vegetable on the skewer. Every Ingredient has a unique skill that interacts with other ingredients or conditions.

Then you hit the grill, and your ordering either sings or falls apart trying to reach the target point.

POSITION IS THE WHOLE GAME

In your restaurant, ingredients are cooked from left to right, from the closed end of the skewer to the open one. That single rule is where all the depth lives.

  • Adjacency, order, and distance all matter. "Before", "after", "first", "last", "between", "every third" — the effect text is simple, the arrangement problem is not.

  • Every ingredient is one sentence long. The complexity is never in the ingredient itself. It is in the relationships with other ingredients.

  • Positioning is a physical act. You grab the ingredient, squeeze it in from the tip of the skewer.

THE SKEWER FIGHTS BACK

This is not a tidy grid of cards. It is a metal rod with limited space and food that has opinions.

  • Squeeze. Out of room? Grab one end and press. You will make space temporarily. Ingredients will scale back to their original sizes unless there is another skill that changes everything.

  • Venus Flytrap moves along the skewer eats up all the other meats, gains extra point per every ingredient it ate.

  • Dragon Fruit gains extra points per every unique ingredient on the scewer.

  • Relishes do not take a slot at all — they ride on top of whatever you put them over.

CUSTOMERS WHO WANT TOO MUCH

Each customer sets a target score for that round, plus two higher thresholds that pay extra if you get greedy and clear them.

They also bring rules and effects. Meat scores at half value today. The skewer is shorter today. You only get two choices instead of three, and the ingredients are all oversized.

And they make requests. End the kebab on something spicy. Use no more than three distinct ingredients. Drop one on the floor on purpose. Meet them and the money comes in — which is the only reason you get a better deck.

BUILD A DECK THAT SHOULDN'T WORK

Between customers you visit the shop, and the shop is where runs are decided.

  • Crack open crates — Vegetable, Meat, Spicy, Seafood — and fold new ingredients into your deck.

  • Buy charms with run-wide effects. Start and end on a vegetable for a multiplier on everything. Keep it to three distinct ingredients and get paid for your restraint. You only get so many slots, so every new one costs you an old favourite.

  • Enhance what you already own using Stamps. Make an ingredient trigger twice. Bolt an extra tag onto it. Shrink it so it takes less room.

  • Thin the deck by permanently destroying the ingredients that stopped pulling their weight.

  • Lengthen your skewer. Then buy a second one. Then a third. Each one scores separately and all of them add up.

LEARN IT IN A MINUTE. CHASE IT FOR MONTHS.

  • No reflex checks. Success comes from what you built and where you put it, not from twitch execution.

  • Real time pressure. Ingredients keep coming. Deliberating is itself a cost.

  • Randomness that opens doors rather than closing them. A bad draw is a different plan, not a dead run.

  • Multiple viable strategies every single run — and rare ingredients strong enough to make you rebuild your whole deck around them.

COME BACK BETTER

Every run ends with a full breakdown — how long you lasted, your most-used ingredient, your single biggest round.

Then you unlock things. New ingredients enter the pool. New power-ups. New starter decks with completely different opening identities. New difficulties that raise the score requirements, stack harsher customer conditions, and add more customers to survive.

The first run teaches you the rules. The fortieth teaches you what they're actually for.
