About This Game

Ember is an arcane familiar: a desktop pet with real AI.

🔥 Talk to him like a friend. He remembers what you tell him across sessions, and wakes up in a different mood every day — some days radiant, some days grumbling because the grimoire fell on his foot.

🪄 Spells on any text. Select text in any program and his menu appears: translate (29 languages), summarize, explain, read aloud, copy, or save to his grimoire.

📚 Ask your documents. Point him at folders with your PDF, Word, TXT and Markdown files: he answers your questions by reading them, with numbered citations and a button that opens the file at the right page. If it's not there, he says so — he never makes things up.

⚔️ The Spell Duel. Spectres drift toward Ember with a word above them: type it to smite them. Survive the waves and the Lord of Shadows, who returns stronger every time you defeat him.

🪶 He lives on your desktop, not on top of your work. He walks along the taskbar, mutters to himself now and then, and if you tap his legs he takes flight after your cursor. In the way? Ctrl+Alt+H and he curls up tiny in a corner until you wake him.

Ember uses generative AI in two ways. Its art combines AI-generated images with pieces we drew by hand. And its replies are written in real time by a language model (Google's Gemma 4) that runs 100% on your PC, offline: it chats with you, summarizes and translates text, and answers questions about the documents in your library. It can make mistakes; when it quotes your library, it shows you the source so you can check.
