Your job is something between an autopsy and a survey. In this detective visual novel, you are an interrogation inspector who extracts information from still-living brains. Every day you analyze documents, gather evidence, and make a tough choice: to follow conscience, duty, or voices in own head.

About This Game

“Simple office job somewhere between an autopsy and a survey, friendly coworkers, quiet clients, and amusing gadgets. Even a corporative apartment not quite on the outskirts. Looks like I've landed on my feet. Now, what should I get for dinner?” — such were the casual thoughts of our hero, Konstantin Safin, an inspector at the Republican Neural Safekeeping Service (RNSS). He had no idea what a steep turn his easy life was about to take over the next couple of days.

Voluntary Consent is a detective visual novel set in a fictional world full of black humor, synthetic sounds, and 1-bit graphics. In this game we:
  • read documents (with our eyes) and minds (with our equipment);
  • talk to coworkers, witnesses, and other semi-inanimate objects;
  • eat (lunch);
  • wander around the city at various times of the day;
  • try not to die (or at least not in the dumbest way possible);
  • collect (and quietly destroy) evidence;
  • casually make tough choice between our conscience, the code of conduct, and the voices in our heads;
  • eat again (dinner) and go to bed on time.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some in-game artwork and some Steam store and library images were created with generative AI image tools, then edited and reworked by the developer. The game does not generate text, images, or audio during play. Story and dialogue are authored by the developer.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game contains medical horror. You interrogate a living human brain kept in a jar and can inject hormones to change its mood, loyalty, and speech; the subject may panic, suffer, and die. Visuals include a human brain in fluid, blood, and, if the procedure fails, the brain rupturing or being destroyed. The story involves organ harvesting, human experimentation, confinement, a seriously ill relative, and dark humor about these topics. There is no sexual content, sexual violence, self-harm, or depictions of recreational drug or alcohol abuse.
