About This Demo

The Suihou Pearl Demo is a single-player, first-person visual novel set against the backdrop of folk traditions in southern China. It combines folkloric mystery, character relationships, and branching choices.

When Hou Jue arrives in a mountain town in southern China, an unexpected incident draws her into the local customs, rumors, and strange events surrounding its snakes.

Story

After paying off her debts and quitting her job, Hou Jue travels alone to a small town deep in the mountains of southern China, carrying a folklore journal titled The Southern Record of the Si Xing.

She only intended to stay for a short while, but is bitten by a snake named Su Huan. After waking, Hou Jue realizes that the town is not as straightforward as the journal makes it seem.

As her investigation unfolds, she meets Lian Zhimo, who is familiar with the town’s local customs, and Xiao Yun, who runs the general store. She also begins to realize that the townspeople seem determined not to talk about certain things.

• Form initial connections with Lian Zhimo and Xiao Yun, with your choices influencing the relationships between them and Hou Jue.

• Experience an early part of a story centered on a missing spirit snake and the strange events unfolding in town.

The Suihou Pearl Demo focuses on reading, dialogue, and choice.
