An ancient game of strategy meets the uncertainty of the quantum world.

Quantum Go takes the timeless rules of Go and introduces an entirely new strategic dimension: quantum mechanics.

Alongside traditional stones, players can make quantum moves that allow a stone to exist across multiple possible positions. As the board develops, quantum measurements can collapse these possibilities into reality, transforming the position and forcing both players to adapt their strategies.

Behind the scenes, Quantum Go uses QutritLabs, a ternary quantum computing simulation library, to simulate the quantum mechanics that power superposition and measurement within the game. Quantum states are represented and processed using quantum circuits, with measurement determining how a stone's superposition collapses onto the board.

Build territory. Surround your opponent. Protect your groups. But remember: in Quantum Go, what appears to be on the board isn't necessarily what will still be there after the next measurement.

Classical Go Meets Quantum Strategy

Play using familiar Go tactics and strategies while deciding when to introduce uncertainty through quantum stones.

Quantum mechanics aren't simply a visual effect. Superposition can change how territory develops, create new threats and make seemingly settled areas of the board uncertain.

For players who prefer a more traditional experience, experimental quantum mechanics can be disabled through the game's settings.

Play Your Way

Choose between 9×9, 13×13 and 19×19 boards, configure your preferred rules and challenge computer opponents across a range of strengths.

Take on individual AI opponents or watch AI players battle each other. Higher difficulty opponents consider territory, group survival, eyes, captures, cuts and other strategic features of Go.

After a game, use Game Analysis to replay the match move by move and study how the board developed.

Career Mode

Work your way up to the top by competing in a range of tournaments ranging from local tournaments up to world championships. 

Tournament Mode

Create tournaments populated by AI players from countries around the world, complete with names, nationalities, rankings and avatars.

Choose from multiple tournament formats and work your way through the competition.

Experiment With Quantum Go

Quantum Go also includes optional Experimental mechanics that push the concept further.

Enable expanded superpositions that allow stones to occupy more than two potential locations, allow existing stones to enter superposition, or make nearby enemy moves trigger quantum measurements.

Mix and match these rules to create very different versions of the game.
