What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“VOIDHOLD is fully playable today — but a game about holding the line against an endless, escalating horde lives or dies by its difficulty curve, and that curve deserves tuning against thousands of real squads, not one developer's. Early Access is the balance lab: the endless scaling, the OPERATIONS medal brackets and the synergy economy get tuned with the community before 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly six to twelve months. The honest answer: until the balance data says the curve is right. We will not leave Early Access with known tuning debt.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Planned (not promised): refined difficulty and economy balance built on Early Access data, plus content and quality-of-life additions guided by community feedback — more mission variety, more squad abilities, more to chase in the deep run. VOIDHOLD is a single-player game and will stay single-player throughout Early Access. Co-op is something we would like to explore after 1.0 if the game finds its audience — but it is not part of the Early Access roadmap and it is not a commitment. The price will increase at full release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Content-complete and stable as a single-player game: 10 biomes plus a hidden 11th trial stage, endless cycles, five rotating boss archetypes with weak-point mechanics, eight medal-graded OPERATIONS, seven mods combining into twenty named synergies, six free-swap weapons, a named fireteam plus two companions, local high scores, boundary saves with an ironman record rule, full controller support and rebindable keys. English UI. No telemetry.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will increase when the game leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Pinned Suggestions and Bug-Report threads in the Steam Discussions from day one, regular devlog announcements, and beta branches (plus Steam Playtests) for testing patches before they reach the default branch. Balance feedback is weighed against first-run player data, not only veteran voices.”

About This Game

VOIDHOLD is a sci-fi horde-survival roguelite. You command a four-soldier fireteam — VECTOR, NOVA and ECHO at your side, the combat dog REX-7 and the eagle-drone AQUILA in support — holding a position at the edge of the void against waves that never stop escalating.

COMMAND A FIRETEAM

  • You're the commander (gold). Three AI troopers — VECTOR, NOVA, ECHO — fight beside you, named and color-coded, gaining veteran strength every level — and the comms track the fight: arrival calls on every world, first-contact warnings, allies down.
  • Each trooper carries its own fixed weapon from the arsenal — VECTOR the MX-9 BREAKER (heavy, armor-piercing, holds the mid line), NOVA the SG-12 SCATTER (a close-range pellet cone — she closes in), ECHO the ARC-9 PLASMA LANCE (lobbed AoE bolts for the crowd). Your squad isn't three clones.
  • Field two companions: REX-7, a combat dog, and AQUILA, a recon eagle-drone.
  • Your squad and companions redeploy each level — losses are a setback, not a run-ender.

ENDLESS, ESCALATING

  • Ten distinct biomes, looping endlessly — every level is harder than the last, and every planet fields its own flavour of the horde.
  • A boss caps every biome — five rotating archetypes: a demon bruiser, a green zone-caster, a charging juggernaut, an aerial dive-bomber, an ice brute-king — each a telegraphed weak-point fight, never an HP sponge.
  • The roster fights dirty: the ASH REAVER flanks with a telegraphed ballistic leap, and the deep waves roll out mutated behaviours — volatile chargers, mortar brutes, warded spitters, dive-bombing flyers.
  • Elite-mutated enemies prowl the deeper waves — gold-crowned and gold-shielded, worth triple: break the shield, then land the kill.
  • Rule-twist special waves seize whole levels — a SWARM SURGE, a FLYER ECLIPSE, an ELITE PATROL — each flying its own alert banner.
  • How deep can you hold? A local high-score board keeps every run honest.

BUILD-CRAFTING SYNERGIES

  • Every run is a different build. Seven mods — HOLLOW-POINT, SIPHON ROUNDS, ARC CONDUCTOR, KILL-DRIVE, AEGIS CORE, INCENDIARY, ADRENALINE — combine into twenty named synergies: EXECUTE, GLASS CANNON, CHAIN REACTION, INFERNO, THERMAL CORE, BLOODLUST, VAMPIRE, APEX PREDATOR, MELTDOWN, BERSERKER, FRENZY, JUGGERNAUT, LAST STAND, FORTRESS and more.
  • Lane-commitment compounds: stack a path and your run transforms, it doesn't just get bigger numbers.
  • Every run banks SALVAGE — spend it in the PROGRAMS ladder on permanent starting edges for future commanders (credit caches, a pre-fitted jetpack, charged shields).

HOLD THE LINE

  • Tight third-person, over-the-shoulder shooting with weight, recoil and kill-juice.
  • Six weapons on one arm-cannon — carbine, piercing breaker, plasma lance, scatter, charge-railgun, incendiary — swapped freely mid-fight.
  • SAVE RUN at any planet boundary and play on — but the record honors only the unbroken watch: a resumed run never enters the high-score board.
  • A cohesive neon sci-fi look, an original driving electronic soundtrack, zero telemetry.

FEATURES

  • Command a 4-soldier fireteam (each trooper a distinct weapon) + a combat dog + a recon drone
  • Endless escalation across 10 looping biomes — per-planet horde flavours, mutated variants, rule-twist wave events
  • Roguelite synergy builds — twenty named combos from seven mods
  • Six free-swap weapons — carbine to charge-railgun to incendiary
  • Five rotating boss archetypes — telegraphed weak-point mechanic-checks
  • Local high-score chase + eight medal-graded challenge OPERATIONS — each on its own world, from the boss-rush GAUNTLET to the OMEGA PROTOCOL capstone
  • Boundary saves, ironman record — SAVE RUN between worlds; only unbroken runs enter the board
  • Single-player — full controller support and rebindable keys

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

All shipped assets are first-party or CC0/OFL-licensed human-made packs. Some 3D
meshes (enemy armor fused onto CC0 base rigs, the drone, weapon models) and the
entire soundtrack are produced by deterministic, first-party procedural build
scripts; those scripts were written with the help of an AI code assistant. No
image-, audio- or voice-generation model produced any shipped asset. The game's
written text — squad comms, item and mission descriptions, narrative screens —
and this store page's copy were drafted with AI assistance under developer
direction, then reviewed and edited by the developer. The game contains no
runtime or live AI generation.
