About This Demo

Heroes chase glory. You've got bills to pay.

Fame & Fear: Dungeon Architect is a single-player fantasy sandbox management game. Build a dungeon packed with monsters, traps, and treasure, open inns, and attract adventurers willing to pay to enter.

Admission is paid at the door. The trip home is not included.

Build a dungeon worth the risk

Dig rooms and corridors, place doors, and choose floors, lights, and decorations. Mix elements from different themes, position your monsters, and give bosses a place worthy of their terrible intentions.

Layout matters: treasure can draw visitors down a particular path, while a trap can set up a monster's attack. Filling a room with hazards is pointless if no one ever sets foot inside.

Design by night. Find out what you've done by day.

Prepare your dungeon at night and use the Predicted Flow Heatmap to identify the most promising routes and areas at risk of staying empty. It's an estimate, not a promise: adventurers have needs and plans of their own. Select them during visits to see where they're going and why.

When you need to give things a little nudge, you can use Keeper's Orders. Use Lure to make an area more appealing; Overload to boost a trap's next activation at the cost of a longer recharge; or Seal to temporarily close a passage without blocking essential escape routes. You get three uses in total per day. Spending them all on the first curious visitor is certainly a choice. Not necessarily a good one.

At the end of the day, check the report: damage, object usage, earnings, and concrete insights into what happened. Then get back to building. Maybe that trap was a brilliant idea, just in the wrong corridor.

An inn between two traps is still an inn

Set the admission price, furnish your rooms, hire staff, and provide services to visitors. Your first furnishings and staff become available at rank F; beds and guest rooms unlock at rank C. You can mix furniture from different themes without having to decorate everything in one matching set.

Keep an eye on expenses, maintenance, and available funds: an admission fee that's too high may turn people away, while those who do enter might also spend money at the inn. Some adventurers return, carrying memories of their previous visit.

A repeat customer is quite an achievement. Especially when you've already tried to kill them.

Someone has to make it out alive

A dungeon without danger doesn't have much of a story to tell. One without survivors has another problem: no one left to tell it.

Balance fame, fear, and survival to keep attracting adventurers. Over time, the dungeon's lethality, trap usage, and success of its services can affect the preparedness, makeup, and wallets of incoming groups.

And then there's the Kingdom. Take fear too far and you might receive an official visit. The kind with weapons, not notebooks.

From rank F to Legendary Dungeon

Grow your dungeon from rank F all the way to SS, complete objectives, and see which new content awaits you before purchasing a rank promotion.

At rank SS, you can accept the Kingdom's Grand Expedition, an optional challenge with three days to prepare. Overcome it to earn the title of Legendary Dungeon.

It's not a mandatory ending: the sandbox goes on, whether you take on the challenge or not. There's always another room to improve.

Good ideas deserve a blueprint

Save your rooms as blueprints, reuse them in other playthroughs, and share them through the Steam Workshop.

Designed a particularly unpleasant welcome? It would be a shame to keep it all to yourself.
