Shape placement meets turn-based roguelike deckbuilding. Rotate and deploy protocols to contest cells and limit rivals. Chain effects within limited turns to raise your tactical score and turn a lead into damage. Collect protocols, components and supplies on random routes to build around your mech.

About This Game

Overwrite Conflict draws on Tableturf Battle and the board game Blokus for its shape placement gameplay, combining it with deckbuilding, effect synergies, and randomized adventures.

Rotate protocols and fight for space

You and your opponent fight for space on the same battlefield, with both sides' protocol deployments resolved together. Each protocol has its own shape, energy cost, and deployment effects. Rotate protocols and choose their orientation and placement to expand your territory and leave room for future deployments.

Contest energy cells, cut off enemy routes, and trigger reactions through encirclement and specific layouts. You can also build up energy, activate Energy Overload, and overwrite normal cells already occupied by your opponent.

Choose your route through a randomized adventure

Plan a route through a randomized branching map, taking on normal and elite battles, visiting shops and repair stations, finding sealed caches, and encountering unexpected events before challenging the chapter boss.

Choose whether to keep fighting, take on a higher-risk encounter, or look for a chance to rest based on your current build, remaining durability, and supplies. The protocols, components, and supplies you acquire change your options in the next battle.

Build a strategy around your mech

Collect new protocols along the way, then refine your protocol deck by removing, modifying, or fusing them. Combine protocols, protocol extensions, mech abilities, components, and supplies to develop your build.

Focus on consecutive deployments, or build around energy buildup, heavy protocols, area denial, or defense. Adapt your strategy to the resources you find, and make your protocols and components work together.

Within a limited number of turns, use spatial planning and effect synergies to raise your tactical score. At the end of each round, if your score is higher, the difference becomes damage to the enemy mech. Deal enough damage to destroy it.

Pilot different mechs

Daybreak, Rift, and Bastion each have their own abilities and starting protocols. Different mech abilities and component combinations change how you deploy and combine effects, even with the same protocols.

Each mech gains proficiency independently, gradually unlocking more starting protocols, component slots, and supply slots to expand your build options in future runs.

The world

Megacorporations dominate this near-future world. During an arms race, they developed automation and control technologies to replace more workers and soldiers with machines. These technologies required vast amounts of energy and scarce materials. Competition for resources ultimately escalated into the Energy War, and mechs became the main force on the battlefield.

After the war, corporations repurposed these technologies for industrial production. Workers still faced dangerous jobs, while corporations found it easier to replace and control them. Mutual aid networks gradually emerged in industrial districts and on the outskirts of cities, helping people survive, uncover the truth, and resist oppression.

Your background

You were once a technician who believed technology could improve people's lives, unaware that corporations were secretly using automation to expand their military power. When the Energy War broke out, you were forced to the front lines to provide communications and electronic warfare support. After the ceasefire, you and many other wartime personnel were laid off. You became an independent worker repairing industrial equipment for a living.

A worksite incident gets you marked for reclamation by the corporation. You must escape the blockade in a mech and uncover the truth behind the incident. As your investigation deepens, you begin to question who controls technology and who it really serves.
