What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to bring the Radar Identified experience to Tower and Approach with the help of the people who enjoy controlling traffic. Early Access gives players a chance to influence how the controls, aircraft behaviour and airport operations develop. Our first priority is to refine Approach sequencing and controller workflows, alongside continued work on Tower and Ground. Feedback from both experienced controllers and newcomers helps us find the right balance between believable operations and accessible gameplay.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our initial planning estimate is around 6–12 months from the Early Access launch. This is an estimate, not a fixed release date. The timing may change as we evaluate player feedback, performance and the scope of the remaining work. We plan to share updates as that picture becomes clearer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to build on the existing five-airport foundation with more varied traffic situations, deeper Approach and Tower workflows, and clearer training and guidance. We also aim to improve arrival sequencing, aircraft and ground-vehicle behaviour, voice recognition, interface customization, performance and airport visuals. Community feedback is intended to help shape which additions receive priority. These are development goals; the scope and individual features may change during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes playable Approach and combined Tower/Ground sessions at Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Bremen, San Diego and San Francisco. Approach includes heading, altitude, speed and vertical-speed control, game-adapted SID/STAR routes and ILS arrivals. Tower/Ground includes pushback, taxi routing, runway operations, flight strips, radar tools and 3D tower views. Mouse, keyboard and voice controls are available, together with day/night and weather conditions. The game is still in development: bugs and rough edges remain, particularly in traffic behaviour, voice recognition, 3D performance and visual presentation.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to gradually raise the price as substantial content and improvements are added, so the full version may cost more than the initial Early Access version. The timing and size of any increases have not been set. We plan to communicate price changes in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to gather bug reports, gameplay suggestions and usability feedback through Steam Discussions and our Discord community. Player feedback has already helped us revise Approach controls, radar tags and procedure handling. We intend to continue using that feedback to prioritize work, share progress through changelogs and development updates, and seek input on proposed changes. Both practical ATC knowledge and the experience of players learning the game are valuable to us.”

About This Game

Control the airport, from stand to final

Radar Identified: Tower & Approach is an air traffic control simulator where every clearance changes the flow. Start with an aircraft waiting at its stand, keep an eye on an arrival approaching the runway, and decide what moves next.

Tower and Ground

Work traffic from the 3D tower, exterior views or the Tower radar. Use flight strips, the Runway Ops panel and an interactive ground radar to follow aircraft through pushback, taxi, holding points, runway crossings, takeoff and landing.

  • Approve pushbacks and assign taxi routes
  • Manage holding points, runway crossings, departures and arrivals
  • Use flight strips and runway controls to keep the operation organized

Approach

Take the Approach position to build an arrival sequence before the aircraft reaches the airport. Issue heading, altitude, speed and vertical-speed clearances; use the game’s STAR routes and ILS approaches; keep spacing in hand and prepare each landing for Tower.

  • Sequence arriving traffic with headings, altitudes and speed control
  • Work STAR and ILS arrivals on the radar scope
  • Track clearances, targets and approach guidance in the flight strips

Five airports, two control environments

  • Düsseldorf — EDDL
  • Cologne/Bonn — EDDK
  • Bremen — EDDW
  • San Diego — KSAN
  • San Francisco — KSFO

Each airport has its own runway, apron and approach layout. Move between German and United States operations, learn the local ground layout and adapt your sequence to the traffic in front of you.

Watch the conditions

Operate in daylight, dusk or night with changing visibility and weather. Aircraft, tugs, service vehicles and airport fire vehicles keep the apron moving while runway and apron lighting changes the view after dark.

Your controller's tools

  • Tower, Ground and Approach control positions
  • 3D tower views, exterior views, Tower radar and Approach radar
  • Interactive ground radar with pan, zoom, stand references and terminal labels
  • Flight strips, Runway Ops, pushback and taxi controls
  • Voice commands and spoken pilot readbacks
  • Day, dusk, night and changing weather conditions
  • Multiplayer in later stage

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

During development, AI tools were used to assist with code generation, debugging, and drafting of game documentation. Voice callouts were generated using AI text-to-speech and processed with radio filters to simulate authentic ATC communications.
