About This Game

DESCEND ELEVEN FLOORS.
Dario works in a warehouse. The game starts the night his mind gives in. Floor by floor you descend through his life: the shift, the night offices, the break room where nobody saved him a seat, the commute, the house that went quiet. Further down, the rooms he never reopened. Every enemy used to work there. The bosses are the managers who made his life hell, and one of them never takes the punch clock off his neck.

THE PILLS ARE THE ECONOMY.
The same pills that hold his mind together are the only currency the warehouse accepts. Every purchase costs a piece of him. Nineteen weapons, each named after a kind of workplace damage: the Bare Minimum, the Grudge, the Double Bind. Any two can fuse, 171 hybrids, 16 of them signature fusions with their own behavior. Fusion is a bet, not an upgrade button: there is no undo, and regret needs no tooltip. And the descent leaves marks: run after run you unlock the Fragments of Dario, versions of him from other falls, each one playable.

TWO ENDINGS.
The bottom is always the bottom. What changes is who arrives: how much of his mind you managed to keep decides what happens when there's nothing left to descend. One ending is reached by falling. The other must be earned.

MADE TO MEAN IT.
Made by one person, after work, about work. Every boss and mini-boss is being hand-drawn in ink by my best friend. Every sound in the game was recorded from the game itself: not a single note is AI-generated. This game exists because some things are easier to say with a warehouse full of monsters than out loud.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some of the game's 2D sprites and environment art were pre-generated with AI tools (Adobe Firefly) and then manually edited frame by frame. Boss and enemy designs are based on original hand-drawn ink artwork. All audio is recorded from real sources: no AI-generated audio. Some marketing assets were created with AI assistance. No content is generated by AI at runtime.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

UNDERSKIN is a psychological horror game set inside the mind of a man in crisis. It contains: pixel-art violence with blood against human-like figures; mature themes handled seriously, including workplace abuse, mental illness, grief, pregnancy loss and references to abortion; a hostile inner voice that demeans the protagonist; psychoactive medication used as a game mechanic; harsh language. No sexual content or nudity.
