What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“There are more contents I am currently making such as story, lore, enemies, improved world scar, animations, music (yay my expertise... NOT. But I will do my best to make my own music in future)

Moreover, the game requires continuous balance updates which I need to hear from the community!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I am thinking about a year. Most of the content is already done. I need balance check and community feedbacks.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add story, lore, game modes to the game. Of course, game balance will continuously be looked into as well as bug fixes. Those will be done even after Early Access is over.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can read below for full details :)
In short version: all mechanics of the game are done already. I just need polishing and balance checks. Things I will add in future is more like an extra content because I just like to build more things for the game, but i believe the game is already built.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will be increased after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is important to me. As an avid gamer myself, I know how much it matters to feel heard, and I want players to be able to communicate directly with me throughout the development of Ruin Upon Ruin.
I have set up a Discord server where players can share feedback, report bugs, discuss strategies, and suggest ideas. The game also includes feedback and bug-report buttons that send reports directly to Discord. I also plan to use Steam Discussions so players can participate without needing to join Discord.
Player feedback will help guide balance adjustments, difficulty tuning, improvements to the interface, and priorities for fixes and future content. Players are also welcome to suggest new equipment, card effects, and interesting gameplay interactions. For example, an idea for a new weapon or an unusual equipment combination could inspire new content or improvements to existing mechanics.
I will evaluate suggestions based on how enjoyable they would be, how well they fit the game, and what is feasible to develop. Not every suggestion will be implemented, but community feedback will help shape which problems I address and which ideas I explore.
I plan to share patch notes with each update on Steam and Discord, explaining changes and highlighting improvements informed by player feedback.”

About This Game

Welcome gladiator

A turn-based roguelike deck-builder where equipment defines your cards and positioning decides whether you are actually hitting the enemy or giving them a massage.

Create your own build! A weapon, offhand, armour, helmet, and boots—each with its own cards, mechanics, and combat identity. Then fight through five increasingly dangerous leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Master.

Control the Distance and Phases

Combat proceeds with three different phases: preparation, movement and action. Study the revealed enemy intentions and passives. Move to your weapon's ideal range within nine-position lane. Remember! Positioning matters. Because obviously there is no way you can do stabby stabby with a dagger from meters away (or is there?).

Forge a Build

Choose routes through battles, elite encounters, events, shops, recovery sites, and league bosses. Collect new cards and run-long artifacts, then upgrade cards along one of two permanent paths: improve their efficiency with Edge or transform their behavior with Mastery.

Mix equipment to create distinct strategies—from close-range bleed and counters using gladius, crushing warhammer finishers, defensive shield play, or long-range Shard control. Optional trinkets can rewrite the laws of combat for everyone in the arena.

Leave a Scar

Defeat the Master to complete the run and unlock World Scar: a customizable difficulty system where you choose the modifiers that shape your next challenge. Earn Marks to unlock new equipment in the Armoury, discover artifacts, experiment with seeded runs, and refine yourself.

Every death will give you another way to conquer the Arena.

More will come from early access

The arena secretly withholds lore and story, which will be revealed along with more enemies, equipment, events and more. Balance will continuously be looked into by reading what community wants. But I have no intention of stopping powerful builds users have found out on their own. I believe that is part of the fun!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Coding was done with help of generative artificial intelligence. Music was downloaded online from copyright free assets. Art was done by myself with some vfx done with help of generative artificial intelligence.
All translations were done by AI, because I don't speak that many languages... I hope in future people can help me translate all these
