What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Outrageous Grounds: The Maze is a game that will bring story-driven FPS games to VR without compromises. We are trying innovative and ambitious things not seen in VR before, like our versatile version of arm swing movement, and we want to get the players involved in the process from the start.
Early Access will give you a front line seat to watch and influence the development of OG: The Maze.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access will last 4-8 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

Environments: Full release will have five different levels/environments that have 1-3 hours of gameplay each.
Gameplay: We are implementing more gameplay mechanics as time goes on, such as boosters, collectables and puzzles. We've had to focus on core gameplay a lot so far, so the new features will be more innovative in comparison.
Enemies: We have two new enemies almost ready and four more in development. This is one of the aspects we will focus on the most early on the Early Access.
NPCs: We will have multiple NPCs to interact and do quests for. We want to make the npc interactions interesting and memorable.
Multiplayer: We are looking into multiplayer experience and will hold polls regarding it in our community pages after the initial tests in a month or two.
Sounds and dialogue: We take pride in our sounds and will be making them better and more varied all the time.
Interactions: Our aim is to make the game world seem consistent with most objects being interactable and physical. As the development goes on, we will add more and more interactions and event chains to the worlds. You will be fully immersed.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“OG: The Maze 0.62
We have the first two levels almost ready, and two others in mid-development. At the moment we are working on implementing the plot devices and narrator to the early levels. Basic gameplay elements are quite far in development. What we are focusing on early in the early access, is getting more specialised mechanics and weapons and enemies in place to make the gameplay more varied.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We are pricing the game at cheaper level for initial Early Access release, but as we advance in the development, we will slowly raise the price to be closer to 30$.
We will make notifications of upcoming price changes in our community pages.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community will work mainly through Steam Community and Facebook. We will have polls and development threads to encourage players to be involved in the process.
We will also make clear what kind of updates we are working on for the Early Access to encourage discussion.
This game is for you, players, so tell us what you like and don't like about it and we will listen.”

About This Game

Outrageous Grounds: The Maze is an original virtual reality action adventure. You will explore the depths of The Maze, battle your way through enemies, unravel mysteries and solve puzzles. In the core of it all being our intuitive locomotion system.
Our aim is to give the explosively growing VR user base meaningful content with captivating visuals, gameplay and interactions.

Outrageous Grounds: The Maze is developed for HTC Vive, and works with Oculus Touch through SteamVR, but we intend to add proper support for relevant devices in the future as they become available to us.

OG:The Maze features

  • Locomotion. With our locomotion the player is free to roam the play area and not be restricted to roomscale. Our arm-swing movement reduces chances of simulator sickness while increasing immersion and allowing for precise gameplay.
  • Environment Interaction. The great majority of in-game objects are dynamic, simulating real world object behaviour. Tons of dynamic objects combined with our destruction system creates extremely satisfactory and fun gameplay.
  • Story-based single-player experience.
  • Attention to immersiveness in 3d and sound design.
  • The graphical quality achieved through the usage of Unity3D and Valve's The Lab Renderer is something to behold.
