A handful of colonists have reached an unfamiliar world. From their next meal to the future of their settlement, their lives depend on your decisions. MARSTEAD is a Mars colony simulation that brings together construction, colonist management, exploration and defense. Build your first shelter, establish production and turn a fragile outpost into a place to call home.

Choose where to settle

Explore the planetary map and pick your landing site. The sand, rock and ice around your chosen location shape the terrain of your settlement map. Survey nearby factions, weigh the resources at hand and find room for your first base.

Build a place to breathe

On Mars, a wall or a power cable can be essential to survival. Create enclosed rooms and airlocks, connect generators and batteries, and keep oxygen supplies and production running. Watch colonists haul materials and complete new facilities. Decide whether the next priority is more living space, more food or a stronger power grid.

Manage everyday life

A colony needs more than buildings. Plant and harvest crops, then move the produce into storage. Set work priorities and care for your colonists’ meals, rest and medical needs. The placement of farms and storage shapes their daily routes: even a small change to your layout can change the flow of work.

Discover what lies beneath the sand

Resources and ruins await beyond your base. Survey with scanners and operate mining rovers to excavate what you find. Put resources and discoveries to work in production and research. Decide when to focus on immediate needs and when to invest in the next expedition.

Meet your neighbors

You are not alone on Mars. Five alien species with distinct traits share the planet with multiple human factions. Trade with visiting groups, examine their stock and specialties, and secure the supplies your colony needs. Decide which relationships to build and which resources you can afford to part with.

Sandstorms and hostile raids expose weaknesses in your settlement. Prepare armed colonists and defensive facilities, and keep daily life and production going through the aftermath. Advance your research, undertake larger projects and decide what future to pursue beyond survival.
